Very impressed
This scope works great. I was very skeptical about buying one so inexpensive, but once I figured out how to install the driver and hooked it up to my first car I works amazing. So far used it on cam sensor and injectors. It has pre set values so i don’t have to play with time, triggers and voltage. I’m very impressed and I’m probably going to buy another one for home or backup.

Scope this out
Hantek 1008c oscilloscope.I'm writing this as a novice user so can't give a detailed technical review.I bought this because it was cheap and I was struggling with car computer problems, like most of the modern world seems to be.A breakout box, also from Amazon, attached to the OBD2 port gave me access to the cars diag socket. Now, there were 4 pins that I needed to test, Can-High, Can-Low, Lin-up, Lin-Down. It is necessary to have a least both of each connected at the same time, not because I can understand computer speak, but because you have to be able to compare and contrast the signals with each other to check proper communication.Dipping my finger into the murky pool of oscilloscopeness I thought the usual single and 2 channel suspects would be either inadequate, or, too expensive for a dabbler. This Hantek, with it's eight channels, seemed an obvious choice. This 1008 needs a laptop with win10 to work properly.Firstly it became apparent that an old xp laptop with win10 screwed on top was not going to be sufficient for anything needing more than one channel. All of the computational power, as well as electrical power, is supplied by the laptop. This device merely seems to be an interpreter of some sort, and the real work is done by the computer program.Hantek appear to have designed this for vehicles mostly, and the presets in their programming tend to confirm this. So, using a modern laptop with win10, I was first able to download the latest version of Hantek's program, and could then connect four of the supplied croc-clip leads to Can-High/Low and Lin-Up/Down.The Hantek made a good job of sorting out the traces so that I could follow them, and I expect with some tweaking I could get it better, but the instructions are dire, and internet information on this module is very sparse. The updating of the signals was what I would call Stagger-Vision, but as I only wanted to see if there were any signals, and their relationship to each other, it was more than sufficient. I must say it was quite bizarre to watch 4 different signals coming from the same socket and dancing along to each other, and it was very apparent that, not only did I have signals on each, but that they were responding to each other. Then I saw a glitch in the signal of Can-High/Low, so this device helped me trace my intermittent problem to the gearbox module.I don't think this is for a novice user, but then no oscilloscopes are for us novices, and I don't think it would satisfy a proper techy either, this is clearly marketed towards general vehicle mechanics who need basic electrical engine information but can't afford the steeply priced whizz bangery from the 'van based tool sellers'.This was cheap enough for me to start to get to grips with car signal diagnoses, and for that it was worth every penny, plus, I could use the same laptop that my universal scanner uses. The device comes in a zip-up case with loads of leads, obviously with the American V8 market in mind. I swapped out a few Croc-clips and replaced them with 2 proper probes and 20x reducers, so that I can use it for coil testing higher voltage spikes. So, everything fits in the one case, ready for the next job.Delivery was the usual swift Amazon affair.
