Q: Can this modem handle 1gb from Century Link?

For information for all: This is indeed a MODEM. It has a setup standard which is called PPPoE. All Centurylink DSL modems offer PPPoE input. A lot of routers offer PPPoE to people who wish to use only a router as their modem which is a bad idea. Modem/router combinations are more effective for this. I am a CenturyLink technician and can confirm this is a modem/router (gateway) combo. It works for VDSL/ADSL single pair and pair bonded (2 pairs) service. It also is capable of gigabit connection speeds when hard-wired from the modem to the computer ethernet port. Wireless speeds are not guaranteed. Wifi will not provide gigabit throughput capability. When fiber is ran, they run the cat5/6 from the ethernet port on the Optical Network Terminal to the WAN port on these modems. They are technicolor, which means they support anywhere from 100mbps+ to Gigabit service. They will work for gig service and fiber solutions.

Q: How is this different/better than the C1100Z?

I think the main difference is that the C3000Z's wireless is 5G compatible.

Q: Will this unit work with our centurylink adsl service?

According to their website, it is compatible with ADSL.
