Centurylink ZyXEL C3000Z DSL Modem/Router works wonderfully with Centurylink
The Centurylink ZyXEL C3000Z DSL modem/router works wonderfully with Centurylink. Super easy to set up. It has all the features I need and more. My only gripe is that reserving IP/MAC addresses takes longer than usual for DSL modems. 2018-10-05 UPDATE: Everything was working fine until today, then I noticed really outlandish ping numbers (up to 2 full seconds for a ping). I called CenturyLink and went through all all the troubleshooting that entails with the end result resetting the C3000Z back to factory defaults. The tech had me go to connect.centrylink.com to finish setting up the mode/router. This was new, I never had to do that before. After doing the online setup, the router was ready to use and the ping times were excellent. But I had a LAN network that was 192.168.123, not the default 192.168.0. As soon as I made the address change, the ping times went back up to 900 ms. I went back to factory defaults and did the connect.centrylink.com setup again. Each time the C3000Z worked great until I changed something in the device. This was never the case before. CenturyLink, it appears, has decided all the CenturyLink branded modem/routers belong to them and they can program them however they wish and the user can't do anything without risking terrible internet speeds. MY ADVICE TO ALL CENTURYLINK CUSTOMERS: Do not buy or use any CenturyLink branded modem/routers. Maybe this is a result of the net neutrality law being abolished by the Trump Administration?

Buy beware! No warranty passed 30 days
Purchase this item at a discount rate. Because it was a second chance purchase through Amazon when I received the item the technician had trouble getting it to work but eventually it started working. One month later the item stopped working correctly but I was not truly aware of it. Because my family was relocating to a new address where this unit was being used. The red light that came on for DSL two line but the internet was still working so I didn't worry about it. But once more items were added to it it was pretty evident that it was not getting appropriate speeds over both dsl1 and DSL two lines. When I asked for a return of course they said it was past the 30 days and then when I asked for warranty information they said there was none other than the 30 days return! I've only had this unit for 3 months and now it's $100 paperweight. This company will never get any more of my money PERIOD!!!

Glitchy.
I want to like this router. When it works, it works quite well. For some reason, CenturyLink branded equipment never works quite like I want it to. When I was on their DSL service, I was able to use a Netgear modem/router, but we needed faster speeds. CenturyLink no longer supports DSL and is trying to get everyone onto fiber. The speeds I like, the equipment I do not. In particular, this router has a funny glitch where if the power goes out, it will not sign back in. I need to power the router off and on two or three times to get logged back in. It is ... very annoying.

Replacement router for CenturyLink
My modem from CenturyLink went out and I had to get a new one. The tech at CenturyLink recommended this one as a replacement. I took their advice and ordered this model. It was easy to install and we got up and running. There were some WiFi connectivity issues at first, and I had to call CenturyLink to come out to fix some lines. It seems to be getting the job done now.

Quick and simple swap to save on monthly retail fees
I received our C3000Z modem free of charge when Embarq became Century Link, but after Century Link became Brightspeed, we were being charged $10 rental fee (check your phone bill every month). This was a super easy one to one swap, just unplug the other modems cables and power and plug them into this new modem. The New modem will reboot and your back on the internet, no need to call tech support. This modem came with a power supply and all cables needed, just like a new unit.
