Great value remastered edition of Assassin's Creed Rogue, looks stunning on the PS4 Pro and includes all DLC from the original
Moving back from playing AC Origins to Rogue was, if you'll excuse the pun, quite a leap of faith. It's like putting on a pair of comfortable, but not that exciting, slippers. Or it would be, were it not for the fact that Rogue was actually a different take on the AC story line in and of itself. Sure, the game mechanics will (mostly) be immediately recognisable to anyone who has played any of the games in the franchise (preceding Origins of course) and in particular Black Flag. This is no bad thing as Black Flag was one of the best episodes in the series, and Rogue certainly builds upon that with a distinctly similar seafaring start. Where things are different is in the role you take: your character Shay is an assassin yep, but a Templar one. Shay Patrick Cormac is an interesting character, and the game has a compelling narrative. New weapons were introduced in Rogue, such as the sniper air rifle and grenade launcher. This remastered version means that the game is now playable in brilliantly upscaled 4K at 1080p for the PS4 Pro. Not only that, but you get the original DLC content thrown in as well which means the addition of two bonus missions and two customisation packs. Is Rogue the best AC game ever? Nope, not by a margin as it is eclipsed by the remastered 'Ezio Trilogy' and Origins in my never humble opinion. Is it a game worth playing? You betcha, this is not a dead duck like Unity and is absolutely up there with Black Flag and Syndicate in terms of playability. Is it a must have? Probably not if you already played the PS3 original, unless you are a true AC addict (raises hand) or just want to revel in how beautiful the game plays and looks in that remastered glory...

Rogue is a great installment In the AC universe
Rogue is definitely a great installment to the AC franchise and takes a different approach in that your a templar rather then an Assassin, but your an ex Assassin who is disenfranchised with the order, shay is a likable enough character who is betrayed by the Assassins which puts him on a path to fight those he once saw as family, he struggles to come to terms with it at times which makes the story all the more believable, it's basically black flag on steroids because it plays the same as black flag with you owning a ship called the morigan which you can enhance with more up to date technology of the time like Greek fire and puckle guns, shay also is very versatile with his Assassin turned templar skills and he shows this throughout the story with combat and Stealth which there is a nice varried mix of this in the game, he also has some new weapons aswell that he can utilise a already experienced weapons seen before like flintlocks and pistols, rifle bombs ect, also the assassins have recruits that can hide in the bushes and ambush shay which makes the combat and stealth rather more interesting then black flag because instead of being predator all the time you can become prey easily which makes you very wary and alert, the story is a bit shorter in rogue then in black flag but it is a fantastic installment of a great franchise Because shay is based in America and Antarctica so you get to see some different scenery to black flag and also experience a different story one which is the opposite to Edward kenway, and also because shay kills a certain weak characters father in the series aswell. Which just makes his skills much more interesting, the thing I love the most is in Antarctica you can smash through ice chunks and blow them up to see waves of water head for the ship so you have to brace, adds more to the excitement and thrill of AC rogue.

Assassins Creed Black Flag #3 Unity ... The missing piece.
As a big fan of the series I had to buy this as I had stopped buying PS3 games when this one came out. I have no idea how this stacks up graphically to the PS3 version, other than what I have seen on youtube, but comparing it to the Ezio remasters, this looks so much better (but of course PS3 games got better and better graphically during its lifespan). The most obvious thing to say is that gameplay wise, this replicates so much of the Black flag gameplay style, its almost a direct sequel. This is not a bad thing of course, as Black flag is one of my favourite AC games. After playing Origins last year, its both a great feeling of nostalgia going back to the old control method etc, but at the same time took some time to get used to again. I loved Origins for sure, but this is the style of game that got me addicted to the series, so of course its cool going back to this. What I really love about this game though is how it ties so many of the games together. Sitting between Black flag and #3, and a connection to Unity as well, its kind of like the missing jigsaw piece. Without spoilers, we get a character from Black Flag, a character from #3 and a character from Unity, which makes this kind of unique in the AC series. Overall its a worthy remaster in my opinion, and for fans of Black flag that missed this one like I did, I can whole heartedly recommend this.

Good game
As other reviews have said, this is just like black flag with slight differences, obviously the characters and story line are different and there are some different weapons for your ship. But overall it was enjoyable.

Fantastic Game! I loved it on the PS3 and so bought it on the PS4! The improvement look great!
You just can't get enough of the Assassins Creed. I played this game on the PS3 originally and still wanted to buy it on the PS4, since in my opinion it was one of the best in the series. This time you play the Templar (having betraying the Assassins after a bit of a falling out) and as you build the trust with fellow Templar agents your world opens up to new possibilities and more of the world to explore. The game feels just like AC Black Flag and I loved that game, so I would strongly recommend buying this if you liked pirating and adventuring in a massive open world. Plenty of side quests, and shamefully I never completed all of them on the PS3 version since I already spent 40+ hours adventuring around and so felt I had got enough out of it. However the PS4 version looks much better and at 1080p and 60 FPS you're likely to be impressed with the do-over. Give it a go, it's only £20 and you won't feel disappointed.
