Rit Colorstay Dye Fixative, Color Stay

This worked wonderfully on tie dye! Sprayed it on before we put the hoodie in the bah for 8 hours. The colors didn't fade at all!!

I am so happy with how my project turned out. I have dyed fabrics before and they didn't always come out even or with enough color saturation. Rit DyeMore solves all these problems. I used the Rit color formulas to get the recipe for the color I wanted. I did my research and found out the key is to have almost boiling water temperatures. This amount of fabric was too large to do the stove top method. I put it in my front loader washer on the highest temp, then I boiled large pots of water and added it to the washer through the soap dispenser, this did dilute the color a bit more than I wanted, so take that into consideration. Other than that I am so happy with my purple slip cover chair.

This didn't work at all for us, but it might be that we were trying to redye a submitted sports jersey.

I can't believe how well this worked. I'm used to spending a half hour wringing out the dye in cold water, hands getting achy, water still looking very colored.Testing this out, I dyed two cotton sweaters on the stove. At the end of the dye process I dumped the colored water out, gave a very quick rinse to the sweaters, then filled the pan back with hot water and the ColorStay (I didn't bother to rinse my sweaters well because they were going back into hot water). After 20 minutes I drained everything. I rinsed the sweaters in cool water, and it was nearly clear after the first rinse. I patted them for a couple of minutes and hung them to dry. Super easy :)

I dyed a corduroy skirt mostly cotton like 90% with a touch of stretch. dyed it before with regular rit dye but seemed to quickly fade and colourfast. so I figured I'd try the ritt dye that was designed for synthetics together with the fixative for extra measure of depth and permanance. came out great and much easier to rinse.

I was disappointed in the performance of this product but I'm not 100% sure I used it properly. I was machine dying differents sized loads and eyeballing my measurements.

Fantastic product! I don't use the spray. After dyeing, I put the piece dripping with hot dye straight into the hot bath of Colour Stay ( mixed as per directions of 4Tbsp. per 3 gal. water). When it's finished, I rinse it and then either rinse it in the machine, or machine wash it. The colour stays a lot better than rinsing until clear as we used to do.

I've been buying different dyes to test out making patterns on fabrics. I bought this to make Japanese shibori patterns on tshirts. The result came out very professional that I'm thinking to maybe start selling shibori products.I washed them couple of times, they still look very good. Love the vibrant colors.
