I have 3 hedges total about 35 ft I'm 80 years old, can't handle my 24 in b&d monster. Will this take its place and allow me to remain independent?

How long of the wired?

This electric hedge trimmer has NO wire, just a recessed plug-in area under the handle. The plug-in area has two prongs (not three) so it's not grounded. You need to buy an outdoor-grade extension cord that's suitable length for your use and that has a small enough end to fit into the recessed plug-in area. My extension cord is 80-ft. long and even though it has a 3-prong receptacle, it still fits the recessed area.

What oil do you use to maintain trimmer? How often should you reapply?

I apply a little 20w oil to the cutting bar before and after use and that's about it. Any type of oil or liquid lubricant would probably be OK. The idea is to reduce friction and prevent rusting.

Does this come with a cord or do I have to purchase that separately?

It is a short cord and you will absolutely need an extension cord and depending on the area to be trimmed suggest 14 or 16 gauge with 3 prongs. Want cord long enough to have sufficient slack to keep away from trim head.
