Great little air fryer - for light duty
This is great for one or two portions of food - heats quickly and efficiently. The price was great especially since it was my first move to air frying. Purchased several years ago and still going - but do not use it very often. One problem - one of the small rubber feet came off of the bottom insert tray - and am afraid to glue it back using household glue. However, it still performs well without the one rubber foot - the remaining two or three are still intact.

Best appliance ever!
I totally love this air fryer! I use it almost every day. I am losing weight, and this has really opened up so many possibilities to make plain food fabulous! I use it for EVERYTHING! Makes fantastic homemade chicken nuggets, "fried" vegetables, fish, roasted new potatoes....everything comes out wonderfully crispy and/or browned. It even makes a humble veggie burger into a restaurant quality meal! I like the food so much better without all the oil that you have to use with frying or even sauteing. It's super easy to use and to clean. It is attractive - I have the turquoise color, and it looks good on the counter. It is very small and hardly takes up any space. It is very convenient, and I don't have to heat up the oven or stove to just make a quick lunch. Just a few things to think about: The timer knob is black, and the dot to set the time is just a raised black bump. It is really hard to see when you are turning the knob. I was thinking of putting a dot of paint on there or something so I can actually see it. Also, this fryer is very small. It only has room to cook a serving for ONE. It's perfect if you just want to make a meal for yourself, but if you want to cook dinner for two or more, I'd recommend getting the bigger size. Overall, this is the best little appliance! Love it!

Such a great little fryer!
It’s perfect for making single serving meals and appetizers for two. It cooks evenly and I have just taken frozen fries, frozen tater tots, frozen buffalo chicken wyngz, and frozen mozzarella sticks, so far into the fryer. Straight from packaging to cooking and it’s easy. I usually cut the full cooking time in half and when it dings, I turn the items over. With fries, I shake them and “stir them” with tongs about 3 times during the cooking process. Everything turned out great. My guest was impressed with the mozzarella sticks in particular because they were perfect and without the grease. Cleanup is easy! It’s non-stick, if you didn’t read the description, and you just need to shake out crumbs before wiping with a soft sponge with soap and water. They recommend wiping the heating element off if grease or food gets stuck to it. The fan sits above the food, and the fan pushes the heat down to the food. So it’s not going to get dirty often unless someone overloads the basket. I keep it to one layer of chicken or mozzarella sticks, but fries take up more room. It’s fairly quiet, and certainly not noisy. You just hear the whole of the fan. It gets to peak heat within minutes and it has to be cheaper than heating a whole oven for one person to eat a meal or snack. I hate using the oven for something like fries or tater tots. It’s a waste of energy ($$$) for something so simple. One tip is to preheat the unit by running it for about 3 minutes before you put food in to cook. This way the energy used during cooking will go directly to your food rather than not be able to gauge how well the food is cooking. You’d have to preheat your oven for 5 minutes and it’s a much bigger use of energy. Those photos were not taken for this review. I just happened to have a few I took to send to someone when I was cooking dinner with it. So that’s from my first go-round. If you are cooking for more than one, then get something bigger, but if you’re cooking for yourself, then this will help you out nicely.

Great cooking appliance, but watch the non-stick coating
I've had the Dash Compact Air Fryer for nearly 6 months, and I love it. It's small and prefect for 1-2 people. Great quick toaster oven that creates health crispy food with little or no oil. It works by circulating air over the top of the food, so you need to flip over or toss the food. PROS: It's perfectly cooks food that comes in smaller pieces (french fries) or meat that cooks up quickly (beef, shrimp, salmon). Oven Fried Chicken: I could never get my oven fried chicken to get crispy like a oil deep fryer. After baking it in the oven, I would quickly air fry for 5 minutes to give in a crispy skin and coating. Frozen Fries: Works well with most types of frozen french fries, but Shoe String Fries are the best for air frying due to their thin cut. CONS: 1. The Non-Stick Coating. A lot of comments complain about the non-stick coating flaking off. Many modern cooking appliances have cheap non-stick coating, and this is no exception. I used to have a Foreman grill that had the same problem. I learned through past experience to use parchment paper under my food to prevent the food from sticking and the flaking of the non-stick coating. PRO-TIP: For the Dash Compact Air Fryer, I used the removable circular tray to trace and cut out perfect parchment paper liners (see pictures). It makes clean up super easy and preserves the coating on the cooking surface. I added a picture of my air fryer tray after 6 months of regular use (looks like new). It takes about a minute to cut the parchment paper to size, and I usually pre-cut a dozen ahead of time. Don't pre-heat the air-fryer with parchment paper inside because it will be blown up into the heating element and burn the paper. Make sure the parchment paper is weighed down by food. 2. The Spring-loaded Timer. The manual timer is spring loaded and requires sufficient tension to be accurate. If you set the timer for less than 5 minutes, it will turn off before the 5 minutes. I'm not certain if this is a design flaw or just my machine (your mileage may vary). I wouldn't recommend cooking anything for less the 5 minutes. Most food requires more than 5 minutes, so this shouldn't be a huge problem. 3. Thick food. This is not just a problem for this brand or model. All air fryers operate by pushing hot air over the surface of the food. So, thinner slices of food work better. I wouldn't cook a thick cut of steak in it (unless you like it blue) or thick cuts of pork/chicken. As I mentioned above, I would bake thicker pieces of meat in the oven and crisp the outside in the air fryer. For food cut into small pieces (like fries), lay them on the tray in a single thin layer. Don't fill the basket to top. Despite the few drawbacks, I love the Dash Compact Air Fryer. It doesn't do everything, but it's great at one thing: making things crispy. I use it for baked salmon, crisp up baked fried chicken, cook frozen fries, burgers, bratwurst, etc. It permanently replaced my toaster oven, and its thinner footprint means I save counter space. PS: If you have leftover fried food, try re-heating it in the air fryer. It will make it crispy again.

A great compact air fryer
I needed to downsize from my XL air fryer to something that will fit into my kitchen. I am cooking for one. This air fryer is perfect. If you need to make food for a family you probably need a larger air fryer, but this is perfect for a large one person serving or normal 2 person servings. It is also very attractive and looks nice on the counter (the large one was not so pretty). I am very happy with the purchase and it will have a coveted spot on the countertop. My first meal was french fries and a frozen crabcake. Both came out great. Took the same amount of time as my old large air fryer. I have also made meatballs from frozen. They were great - hot through and crispy. Response to some comments i have seen: Some say it is too small. It is labeled COMPACT for a reason and the description of the size is accurate. So make sure you get the size you want Some say it doesn't come with accessories. I think most air fryers do not COME WITH accessories. You have to buy them. And Dash has accessories for this or you can use any 6" or smaller accessory Some say it doesn't get hot enough. I don't really know what you mean by that. It heats up to 400 degrees and cooks well and evenly. Cooks the same as my old large GoWise. My only small complaint is closing the air fryer is a wee bit clunky, but not too bad.

This little gadget is awesome! I purchased it for my office at work
This little gadget is awesome! I purchased it for my office at work, as I used to cook my sweet potato fries in a convection oven where I would have to go into the break room multiple times to flip my fries and reset the timer for additional cooking. This air fryer has made my life so much simpler and has eliminated all of that! My frozen sweet potato fries now only take 15 min to cook, I can keep the fryer in my office, and after about 5 uses, I can say it cooks very well and gives my fries (and tots) a delicious crisp fried taste. I have already encouraged several of my co-workers to purchase one, and I'll probably buy a larger one for my house down the road. This size is ideal for one or two servings, so if you are feeding more people, I would recommend a larger air fryer. Clean-up also couldn't be easier! It's adorable and a simple tool, I am very happy with my purchase!

So much better than the oven!
A friend had brought some chicken taquitos to a potluck that were to die for. She said she cooked them in the air-fryer. I had been hearing about an air-fryer for some time, but had never jumped on the band wagon. I didn't need another kitchen gadget. But those taquitos were tasty and I wanted more. For the price, I didn't mind playing around and testing it out. All I can say is food tastes so much better than using the exact same ingredients and popping it in the oven. Seasoned chicken breasts are fabulous. French Fries are so much healthier than deep frying and just as good as take-out with a little seasoning. This is a little air-fryer. I can fit in two small chicken breasts or one large one. I can cut up a single large potato for the french fries. It's the perfect size for a single person serving. I like that it's not fancy. There are two knobs; 1 to set the temp and 1 to set the timer. Personally I use a separate timer to keep me on track. Last, it doesn't heat up the kitchen. It doesn't get hot on the outside. Obviously it gets hot on the inside and you need to let it cool before washing. Maybe someday, I'll get a larger one, but for now, this one works just fine.

This air fryer works great -- but not too well made cosmetically
This air fryer works great! We have been pleased with everything we have cooked in it - fries, chicken nuggets, tater tots, even a burger. I wanted a smaller, compact fryer because I was a huge doubter about air fryers in general and didn't want to spend a lot on a "what if." Now that I know they're so useful if I bought another one I would definitely get a digital timer. This Dash model has a knob for a timer. If you go past the minutes you want you cannot turn it backwards. Plus it is difficult to see how many minutes you have set it for or how many minutes are remaining. I painted a white line on the knob to make it easier to read. But the issue that irks me the most is that the finish is already worn off the basket handle (see photo). I have had this fryer for 23 days and it has been used maybe 12-15 times. There is no reason why it should already be showing wear. I have submitted a replacement request to Dash. Update #1 6/2/2022 - Because I had this fryer less than 30 days Dash requires that it be returned to Amazon. I have done this and a new, same-model fryer is being sent to me. I assume this same wear issue will happen with the second fryer. If it does I will definitely shop for another brand. Update #2 6/30/2022 - The finish on the replacement (second) fryer also began wearing off after only three weeks. I'm finished with Dash products and have already purchased a different brand fryer. I do not recommend this fryer.

Incorrect voltage for the UAE
The one star is not because the product is bad. I have included it because there is no way of leaving the review without including stars. The voltage for this product is 110V and does not automatically convert to 220V. I forgot to check that when I ordered it because it never crossed my mind that Amazon would sell 110V products in 220V country. I find it a bit ridiculous that 110V electronic product is being sold in a country which does not have 110V voltage supply. My product obviously lasted less than a min before blowing up. If I had bought the product in N. America and brought it here this would make sense. However, selling 110V equipment for the UAE market makes no sense.

I love my new Dash air fryer
I wasn't sure I would like my air fryer, but after using it for over a week now, I know I love it!!! The size is compact and fits well on my kitchen counter and the red color is amazing. Everything I have made from fries, to pizza, crispy beef, turkey thighs, pork tenderloin and cauliflower bites has been easy to do and turned out delicious. The size is definitely for one person and you can not do very big portions in it. So if you are hoping to make multiple things in it at once this is not the size for you. At this point it's a good size for me. I'm so glad I purchased it and there are wonderful groups on Facebook to help with recipes and ideas.

Never using a toaster again
I purchased this after many toasters and toaster ovens that failed to give my family the even crispy crunch on food. Not sure why this is called a "fryer" there is no frying involved. It is basically a small oven that blows air inside the heating chamber thus providing for a more even bake. For anything small where you don't want to turn your oven on, this will do a perfect job. Cleaning is simpler than any other small kitchen appliance you have. I have made in this: small pizzas, grilled cheese and any other sandwiches that you would heat, au gratin anything in small ramekins, baked potatoes, quiches, etc. For the money, excellent value. Also, takes almost no space on the counter due to the vertical design so - perfect!
