KOHLER GENUINE PART GP1229656 Canister Repair Kit, For single flush canister toilets, Includes cap, center guide and chain

I have a Kohler Tresham toile I installed a little over 10 years ago, and the canister valve at that tine was a female fitting (the fill line inserted into a hole in the top of the canister valve). Over time, this became worn and the line would no longer stay inserted in the canister. The main result of this is that the bowl would not refill to the proper level after flushing. This part instantly solved the problem in less than 10 minutes. The installation is very simple, there are no special tools or plumbing knowledge required, and there are a number of very good YouTube videos that can walk you through the process. After shutting off the water and draining the tank (a simple flush will do). turn the canister a quarter turn to remove it, remove the top from the center piece and remove that from the canister, insert the bottom of this repair piece up through the bottom of the canister, innsert the yellow top piece, and replace the canister in the reverse of how ou removed it (insert and turn one quarter turn). I would also recommend that you replace the seal around the bottom of the canister while you have it out. It's worth the $3 for the seal to save yourself another job in the future.

I only needed the top yellow piece as mine broke and after watching an online video was able to attach the new piece very quickly and everything works fine now.

sad instructions, sadder still; the toilet was less than a year old when I had to replace parts in flush mechanism.

My spouse just replaced our broken piece and it fits and works in our Kohler toliet. And I got it faster than going to the Kohler website.

Exactly what I needed. The yellow plastic cap had snapped the tabs, rendering the toilet unflushable. The two unit item was installed in less than 5 minutes the hardest part was reattaching the chain. It’s as good as new.

There are a couple videos around the web on how to install this thing but nothing could be easier. Grab the old one, quarter turn counter-clockwise, remove, insert new one, 1/4 turn clockwise, hang the chain, close the lid. Seriously - fix in under a minute. Original clearly has a design flaw where the plastic fatigues over time and breaks, but the repair is simple enough

I thought I needed a canister replacement, when the cap part broke (black top piece in one of the photos). I couldn't visualize how this piece would work, but took a chance after reading more about it in the reviews. Not a lot of easy to find info out there, so for 18 dollars or so, I was willing to try this out. Got the piece today, and fixed the toilet in less than 5 minutes. Basically, it's the stem inside the canister (which has no issues, and I had recently replaced). I went to Canadian Tire, home Depot x 2, Rona plus and not one of those stores had this item or even a cannister style valve. My next step was to just buy a new toilet. Just glad I checked here, and hopefully this may save someone else some time if they have the same issue. Pic with the yellow top is the new piece. Other two pics are of the broken piece.
