Anti-Theft Classic North/South Crossbody Bag

I've always loved Travelon purses and this is the best. I ordered one that was a bit smaller and decided to return and get the larger bag. I am glad I did. It has RFID protection, the straps that cannot be easily cut, the security clips, room for everything I will need when sightseeing on my trip, and it can fold down into my personal bag on the plane. Even though it is not leather, it has such a clean and smooth look that you will definitely be satisfied. I absolutely recommend this bag to anyone who needs a secure purse for travel that is nice looking and offers all the security features you could ask for.

I am a traveler. I bought this purse with travel in mind. I will be traveling with it in the future, so I decided it was best to get accustomed to using it now on a daily basis. I like everything about this purse. (A woman had to have designed it!) It does take some getting used to, however. I like having the many pockets that it offers. I am working on being consistent as to what I put in each pocket. Although I am not concerned with pickpockets where I live, I continue to attach the security clips so that I will be accustomed to using them when I do travel. It was awkward at first. What I don't want is to call attention to myself when traveling by searching pockets or taking a lot of time fiddling with the hooks. I had another brand of bag that has 2 of the side pockets for a bottle or umbrella, but they stick out when not in use. I like the ability to zip that pocket so it lies flat. (Plus this brand has the slash-proof materials which the other did not). The ability to unhook the shoulder strap to wrap/re-hook it around the leg of a table or back of a chair while sitting in a restaurant is a great feature. (It also allows me to carry the purse under my coat and remove the purse without taking off my coat). The front zippered pocket with slots for credit cards has RFID, and I keep that side against my body. (There is no suitable pocket for cash in that RFID pocket. There is room for a wallet). In the main compartment, there are two open vertical pockets for convenient items, like pens, phone, or glasses. I haven't needed the little attached light yet, but that will be handy on the plane. I usually attach my keys to it now. There is also a zippered pocket which is perfect for a passport and important documents. Additionally, the main compartment has enough room for a tablet, a book, as well as the usual items. I have put a foldable jacket in mine. Love it! (And I got a great price!!)

UPDATED: My bag arrived used and dirty, which I didn't notice right away. I DID notice that it didn't have any of the tags on it, nor were any of the clasps closed- but I'm OK with returned items as long as they are still brand new. However, after taking a closer look- I can see stains and dirt. Not happy that I paid full price for a USED one. ORIGINAL POST: We have an upcoming trip to Europe and I wanted a bag that could carry my wallet, passport, eyeglass case, sunglass case, small cosmetics bag (hand sanitizer, tissues, nail clippers, hand moisturizer, small nail file, chapstick, ibuprofen), a few granola bars, a note pad, pen, my cell phone (XL) and still have room to cram in a super thin jacket. I also wanted a place to stash receipts, maps, brochures, etc. and also have a spot for a water bottle. I ordered several bags to choose from, and THIS is the one that I kept. It has the perfect amount of pockets and storage. Room for everything- and I can still cram a thin jacket into it if I need to. Or, in cold weather I could probably put my gloves and a knit hat in it, but not much else. I like that the water bottle pocket is on the outside and doesn’t intrude to the inside. This bag is going to be my go-to bag for all my traveling (Europe, Disneyland, Zoo, etc.) ** THERE IS A DRAWBACK ** The adjustment for the shoulder strap hits my collarbone. I'm going to have to either wear this backwards, or across my other shoulder, or make some sort of modification to make this bag work. Whether that's deconstructing the strap and re-sewing it, or making a padded sleeve, or..... ?? I like the bag so much, though, that I'm willing to risk it. Here are the other bags that I tried out- in case you are looking for the perfect bag, too: Ranked in order of size… Travelon Quilted North/South Medium- I have to say, this bag is an amazing bag with tons of storage and tons of pockets. If I were carrying things for my kids or husband, this would be the one I’d go with. Or, if I was traveling someplace cold where I wanted room to stash my gloves, hat and scarf when I’m indoors- this would be perfect. It’s so big you could almost carry a spare pair of shoes in it (ie Disneyland walking!) But for just me, in normal weather, it was too much. Too big and too many pockets. Travelon Classic Crossbody Bucket Bag- I really wanted to like this one, but the buckle sat right across my collarbone. The bag was quite large, but set up well with easy to access pockets and storage. The drawback to this bag, for me, was the styling. It was so “blah”. I ordered the gray, and it just felt too industrial and lacked style. Travelon Heritage Hobo- This one was my absolute favorite in appearance. I just LOVED it. But the zippers were so big and scratchy, the pockets were really hard to get things in and out of them because of the zipper style. I was so sad. Storage wise- it was perfect. Utility wise- so hard to use. Travelon Classic North/South Crossbody Bag- this is the one I ultimately kept. Travelon Asymmetric Small East/West Crossbody- I wanted to keep this one, too….. as a smaller bag… it’s more of a purse style. It doesn’t have room to store a thin jacket, nor does it have the water bottle pocket, but it has a good look to it and a nice amount of pockets. Travelon Small East/West Crossbody- this is more like a purse. Even smaller than the Asymmetric one. Way too small for any daytripping so I didn’t even take it out of the packaging to try it.

My bag is 3 years old. It’s a great bag. I love the generous volume it can hold, the pockets to help organize contents, and the exterior pocket for a water bottle or compact umbrella. It’s great for traveling! It has 5 pockets, 3 of which can lock. And the strap has a clasp that allows you to secure the purse to something sturdy like a chair when you’re in a crowded place. I removed one star for durability of the zipper stitching, and the water bottle / umbrella pocket mesh (other reviewers have also mentioned these issues). The nylon mesh ripped pretty quickly. It should be made of something more durable like GORE TEX.

This bag is excellent for travel. It’s very roomy but not too large or heavy. It holds everything that you need, and very comfortable across the body. While taking necessary precautions out of the country, I still felt safe while walking around with my Travelon Crossbody Bag. I highly recommend it.

This is my 2nd Travelon bag and I highly recommend it. I wanted a bigger bag and this one delivers, including a water bottle pouch. Plus, I love the teal color. Thank you Travelon for you attention to anti-theft protection and quality.

This is the best bag ever! I bought it for travel but I’m now ditching my heavier impractical designer bags for this lightweight crossbody bag that keeps me very organized. It has 4 zippered pockets that each have their own organizational features like numerous pockets. My reading glasses, makeup, lipstick, pens, credit cards, change, drivers license, passport, contact lens drops and tissues are all in separate pockets. None of the pockets are too deep so everything is handy! At first, I had trouble putting a bottle in the mesh side pocket but it must have stretched a little and is now easy to use. I use disinfecting wipes to clean it. I hope they never discontinue it but just in case, I’ll buy some extra.

Wanted to love this bag, but the straps are very stiff and would be painful on my shoulder after a day of walking. The side strap clasp is difficult to manipulate, and the straps don't lay flat after changing the length. I have arthritis and this bag would take far to long to fool with to adjust the straps. The quality is superb and the zippers are top notch! I wish it had come with a strap pad for extra shoulder comfort and better straps.

Este es mi cuarta bolsa de la marca. Llegó a tiempo y en bolsa de plástico de Amazon y de la compañía por dentro. Es buena bolsa de viajes, de tela muy gruesa y correa extra firme por el cable de acero en su interior. Me gusta que tienen muchos cierres y compartimentos para organizar todo. Además de una pequeña linterna con gancho para tus llaves o para buscar al interior en la oscuridad. Me preocupa que se me dañe el cierre principal, porque eso destruyó mis dos primeros bolsos sin tener cada uno más del año de uso. Quizá el problema radica en que por los materiales, tienen una capacidad máxima y al sobrellenarlas en mis viajes, estos cedieron de los dientes; pero se me hace incongruente con una marca que se supone hace bolsos muy resistentes. Espero que no sea un asunto de mercadeo para incrementar su consumo. Lo que sí, las he comprado para viajar al extranjero donde es común que te hagan el robo RFID o que te abran cierres y sustraerte el móvil o cartera en áreas muy concurridas y me sentí muy segura con ella, ya que todos tienen sistema de cierre de gancho de cangrejo bastante sólido, incluso la correa de hombros trae un lado así, para que puedas amarrarla a la silla y evitar que te la arranquen mientras comes. Claro que la recomiendo, aunque no es muy grande; carga mi cartera, estuche de lentes, cosmetiquera pequeña, celular, pañuelos, gel de manos y hasta un libro pequeño; y para mis necesidades, está bien. Si buscan también algo en donde quepa un suéter ligero y una bufanda, este no es el modelo. Incluso el cierre porta botellas es para algo de menos de medio litro.

LOVE this bag! Bigger than most of medium-sized bags, it’s comfortable and big enough to hold everything you might want on hand while out touring. Good length options for adjustable strap, good pocket options and everything tucks away nicely. Secure. Washes and dries well too. Bonus is the side pouch for regular-sized water bottle-zips closed when not using. Would/might buy again!!

Perfect bag for traveling or out for a long day of errands. The bag is nice looking and has a lot of room without looking huge or bulky. It also has helpful security features for when you’re going to be in large, crowded public places like airports, train stations and shopping malls. It also seems to be very well made.
