Runel Sambal Matah - Chili Sauce with Lemongrass and Shallots - (Pack of 6) (Matah)

At least a couple years ago, Trader Joe's had a Sambal Matah that was brutally hot. It was my introduction to this Indonesian sauce, and I was crestfallen by Trader Joe's discontinuing it. Being vegan, it was difficult finding a Sambal sauce that didn't have animal-sourced ingredients, but I not only look a roll of the dice on this, I bought the six-pack.It is virtually identical to the Trader Joe's Sambal Matah, and I even gave a jar to a friend whose husband LOVES spicy food. This is addictively good, and I only wish I could get it in larger containers. Definitely ordering more of this, and regularly.

Good stuff but the jar is a lot smaller than I it seemed from the picture.

If you've been jonesing for Trader Joe's Sambal Matah, this is a damn good alternative! Not for the faint of heart.

Strong flavoring & very spicy. If you don't like spices then don't waste your time.
