I bought this since my laptop does not have an optical drive. Plug and play. I have had it for several months but only really used it today. File transfer from my laptop and external drives was seamless and speed was decent. Very pleased especially for the price. Adding to my review. I have put this little unit through its paces in the last week or so after owning it for some months. Works great with the attached USB cable but cannot get it to be recognized with a longer cable. Works great with little if any problems. Highly recommend.

Pros: lightweight, easy to use, very compact.Cons: thin plastic, not good for travel.Worth buying if you're going to keep it on your desk or in a drawer or similar, but I wouldn't recommend putting it in your backpack or travel bags. It's light and small enough that it won't take up too much space and it's easy enough to just plug in and go. I used the windows legacy media player with it and it worked perfectly for all but one cd, although that may have just been user error as all the ones before and after it have worked fine.

LOVE that itt comes with ALL the cool stuff (carrying case, the pouch, mini-usb cable for some reason, even though powering it from the attached cable is totally enough power).What I don't like - THE ATTACHED CABLE LENGTH! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?! Practically impossible to use! Luckily for the users - there are USB(c) extension cables and USB hubs that allow close contact. Still - if not for the cable - works right out of the box! No drivers needed on Windows 11 (pretty sure - same thing on win10).Perfect if you want to burn something (music, movies, games) on your CDs-DVDs :)

I bought this over 18 months ago when I purchased a new Dell laptop so I could listen to CDs or watch DVDs on my laptop. For health related reasons I didn't need to use it until now when I tried to import a CD into iTunes. I spent at least an hour attempting to get it to work. After determining that it iTunes was correctly set up for importing, the only thing left was the DVD drive. Reserching this DVD drive I discovered that it has a history of intermittent disconnecting with iTunes due to lack of power. Even with the DVD Drive charger plugged in, the import wouldn't work.That's what I get for trying to save some money. There are times when it is wise to spend more for better quality. Don't know if this item is still being sold. If it is. Buyer be ware!

The drive worked perfectly right out of the package. It also gave us an adapter for the C to A USB connector/plug, along with a power cord for the 'extra power' that may be required for burning DVD or CD disks. This is quite thoughtful on the part of the manufacturer or distributor. You will need to invest into a 5V, 10-Watt power supply to power this feature if your laptop power buss cannot provide the power. Most micro-laptop computers cannot supply the power without compromising operation or performance. The only excess straw on the camel's back is the fact that we have to choose between regions for the DVD disk payback. I float between overseas and the domestic US quite often, meaning I need a player that can play any type of the disk at anytime. With the advances in technology during the past 20+ years, I would think the engineers and software/firmware writers would find a solution for this divergence in disk data formatting. What say you about this? I contacted the manufacturer/distributor's help desk on this and was informed that 'it is the way the player was manufactured/programed, there is nothing they can do about this. Meanwhile, the DVD burners could continue labeling the disk's packaging with the playback region for reference.

Pour l'usage que j'ai de ce lecteur/graveur (essentiellement installer des logiciels sur CD-Rom), il me convient parfaitement.J'ai mis un CD musique par nostalgie et pour voir ('écouter' serait plus juste). L'appareil me semble satisfaisant.

Ordered this DVD/CD player to be able to transfer photos I backed up to CD's and DVD's many years ago, onto an SSD external HDD. It has worked perfectly for what I needed it to do. Very happy with the product, buying experience and the delivery.
