I bought this primarily for the desoldering tool, However, it's quite useful to have both tools as contacts sometimes need re-soldering to get a good draw from the desoldering tool. My old soldering iron was a Hakko 936 - this remains my preferred tool but mostly because the tips I own for the Hakko are better than the included tips for the 948D. The desoldering gun was a revelation for me - how did I live so long without one? The only drawback seems to be the collector spring in the vacuum chamber - the solder has a tendency to adhere to the coil. However, I can usually manipulate the spring to shake the solder, but if that doesn't work the soldering gun works quickly to release the solder. As such, I've been able to use the gun for almost two months now, without needing to change the spring. My recommendation is to clean out the vacuum chamber frequently - that way it isn't as prone to clogging the spring. Overall the tool is intuitive, easy to use, and comes up to temperature reasonably fast. It won't let you desolder until the tip reaches operating temperature (a minute or so). The station also comes with spare tips for the guns, spare springs and parts for this machine are commonly available both on ebay and on amazon. After several months of use I really don't have any complaints. I'm not a 'power user' but this certainly meets all my needs. Good value for money.

I bought this on an impulse - I'd used a similar product costing way more working as a bench technician at a job years ago, and had always wanted a solder vacuuming tool for home use. It sat in the box in my garage for a couple of months, but then a piece of gear I bought on eBay came with a destroyed USB jack. After ordering a replacement jack here on Amazon, I used this tool to remove and install the new jack, and everything worked smoothly! Totally worth having around for repairs or maybe salvaging components out of old electronic gear.

Value for money! A set up like this would have cost many times more. It helped me in my re-capping of my 40 year old power amplifier. It would have been a big mess doing the job without this machine. Pretty easy to clean too. Only minor annoyance is that it did not come with a smaller tip for the soldering iron.

Wasn’t expecting much honestly, but I needed a backup iron for a busy orders season. This one works better than my primary iron and might even be built better! The mismatch of designs and cheesy font threw me off but it is a quality setup—the wand is premium, the tips are good, the gun is built well, it heats up fast, holds temp, and it actually feels and looks nice in person. I can’t give it 5 stars, because the iron base isn’t designed well: can’t combo with many popular tinning jars, no tip storage, no organization for necessary materials…etc. One thing id love to see in the future: a USB A port on the front to power accessories like magnifying lamps. Just a side note though, not scoring this. Great product at this price, I will buy more stuff from you yihua

I'm quite pleased with the set. I've used both the soldering iron and the desolder tool. Both heat very fast. Digital display is large and easy to read. Comes with a reasonable supply of consumable accessories (filters, tips, etc.) as well as cleaning tools. Not mentioned in the product description is that the unit is ESD grounding ready and comes with an ESD grounding lead that plugs in the rear and can be clipped to an ESD mat or other static discharge ground. The only negative (and it's a very minor point) is that the instructions are not very clear on setting and using the timer and sleep mode. However, with a little experimentation, these functions become clear. Overall, this is a very good set that delivers. Although I've only received it recently, it's easily handled some pretty heavy-handed vintage radio point-to-point soldered components. If it can deal with these relatively large solder joints, it should have no trouble at all with finer, modern solid-state type circuit boards.

This desolder gun is a miracle worker. At first, I was having trouble with 5/12 pin holes, & was frustrated. However, I decided to watch a video on how to use it — first, apply flux & new solder, then use the desolder iron to suck it all up, worked perfectly on 12/12 pins. I could not recommend this more, & if you’re having trouble, try the technique.

Bitter Sweet because I started working on electronics for myself and friends when I was in High School and took electronics class. Im 51 now, but I never invested in any of the more expensive solder stations and just used what I was taught in school all these years. So solder irons that didnt reach temperature I needed and desolder wick. Slow and it never worked as well as I remembered in school. Ive accumulated a lot of boards with good parts on them along with gold I plan to collect. So I never looked forward to wicking all the boards I have and would talk myself out of it. Flash forward to 2025 and I finally broke down and purchased this machine for the desoldering but needed to replace my iron as well. Compared to what I have been doing all this time, I nicknamed my machine Rapid Fire! I had a huge audio board cleared in no time. The high temp tip meeting the solder on the board instantly melted and the part was mine. Then decided to check the capture chamber for the old solder and it had a nice sized nugget in it. Emptied it and right back to it. This thing is completely worth it. Even if you dont solder that much. This makes it easy and makes your work look professional. Don't wait like I did. I'll probably have them bury this machine with me.

I bought this two years ago but haven't used it much. I rate the soldering station as five stars, but the desoldering gun is disappointing. I desoldered a few parts and it seemed to have good suction. But recently I had to use it again and found that the heating element in the desoldering gun slides back into the handle and doesn't maintain contact with the tip. I also found a clog of solder in the small end of the spring filter which had to be melted out. There are no clear instructions about setting up the filters in the spring. I suspect I need a new heating element but I'm reluctant to buy the replacement desoldering handle if it will have the same problems.
