No. The PD40R V3.0 is not compatible with non-rechargeable batteries.

What are the chances of this model accidentally turning on while in my pocket?

Almost zero possibility of accidental activation.

No tungsten carbide tips,2nd tail switch, and hidden usb port. Always something missing. When is this perfect flashlight ever going to be built ?

It is a very powerful flashlight--good amount of lumens, however, I am truly disappointed that FENIX did not add a back tail switch. Had I known this, I would have put the purchase off. Hidden USB port--not really so hidden, but could have placed it in another area. Tail switch is my biggest gripe--close to perfect if it had it. Maybe next edition to get us buying.
