Pieces were damaged and had to be fixed for us to put it together. No packaging was damaged so it was that way before being shipped...the only option I was given was to be charged for another one and ship old back but let my kids play with the box so didn't have it to ship back

Having a small hatchery, I have put dozens of nesting boxes together over the years. This one left me frustrated and almost throwing it in the trash pile.The directions, well there are not directions just 6 pictures that leave a lot to be desired. But as I am on old hand at putting these together I continued on. side pieces and dividers went on without issues, but when it came time to put the bottom rails in place frustration and having to take it apart 4 times ensued.The bottom rails do not make sense and as you look at them and line them up, they actually go on opposite sides from what the piece tells you it needs to go. And when you finally get it assembled and go to slide the roll out boxes in, another struggle occurs. They just don't want to slide in at an angle so the eggs will roll out into the catchment area. when you finally get them in, they are flat not at an angle.I spent 2 hours putting this together and it should not have taken longer than 30 minutes tops. Most 3 nester roll outs I have built take 1 minutes to put together.

Roll away nests like this saves your eggs from breakage and you can gather eggs even while a hen is in the nest. Really fast way to get nests for your egg layers.

Little awkward to handle but sets up easy overall. Would definitely have something to sit these on as opposed to hanging freely, especially if you have bigger hens. Initial wipe down made it seem easy to clean but as they've not been in them long we'll see if that changes over time.

The red powder coating on the roof is a nice shade and goes with our wooden coop.This coop is meant to be hung on a wall, not completely set on the bottom. The black plastic trays slide out, but their angled bottoms are what would touch the floor/ground in your coop. Best to have them at least a few inches off the ground so you can slide and clean underneath.There's also a white PVC cloth curtain that bolts to the front, for the hens' privacy. This can make them feel more comfortable when laying. You could also use old fabric to make your own curtain that covers more.The trays themselves will hold 5-6 eggs each in the roll away section, depending on the size.I only took off a star because the instructions were hard to understand from the photos. I was expecting that this could sit on the floor by itself, but if you do that and take some trays out, the whole thing would fall forward. Wall mount only for this design.
