PUSH MetaGrip CMC Thumb Brace for Arthritis Pain Relief | Thumb Stabilizer & Support for CMC Joint Pain | Durable & Comfortable (Right Hand, Large)

I have left CMC arthritis and have recently started using a brace. I have a joint replacement scheduled (it’s only been in the US about a year). I’m 50 and have practiced medicine for over 20 years. I also am a woodworker and do a lot of chores with my hands. I purchased the Willcom first due to cost. It is an excellent brace. I was able to live my life and had almost no pain with activity, and very little at night relaxing after a busy day. After about 3 weeks it started to fall apart. I then bought the PUSH. They really do look about the same. The PUSH is night and day better. The construction is slightly different. The palm piece on the cheaper one is 2 pieces while the PUSH is one. More stability in the one piece and the cheaper one was coming apart at that seam. The other is the big one. The metal piece around the thumb base. The cheaper one is very malleable, deforms easily and has to be adjusted multiple times a day. The PUSH keeps its shape, even with posting up on that hand getting off the floor. I will probably have surgery in June. The cheaper one didn’t last a month, and I needed 3-4 out of it. Buy once, cry once. I didn’t follow my own advice.

I love this brace! It allows me to bowl which is why I ordered it. It gives my thumb stability and there’s less pain.

This brace is indispensable! After retirement, I decided to do home restorations. My non-dominant hand has arthritis from years of working and holding items. This brace fits easily within a work glove and supports the thumb without pain even doing strenuous work on a daily basis. I have three of these braces purchased over the years and rotate their use. All still work fine

Sooooo much better than the one my orthopedic surgeon sold me (seemed to make basal joint pain worse). This brace greatly reduces pain by the way it aligns thumb. I only take it off for showering. No more had pain keeping me from sleep.

These braces (I use left & right) are the best I’ve found to keep my CMC bone spurs from digging into the surrounding tissue while handling tools, etc. and reducing the inevitable pain. They stand up to water and grease and clean up pretty well when needed. They are also far less noticeable than the black Futuro braces that I also use when relaxing while reading or watching TV. They aren’t cheap but your insurance should cover them if you have the medical record to justify it. The only real negative is where the hard plastic rides between the thumb and the index finger. Over time, the flared thumb hole plastic digs into the tissue underneath, where the skin is thin and there is no fat to cushion it. It got really sore for me over time. I’ve had to cut adhesive cushions to wrap around the thumbhole completely, otherwise they work loose. Also, if you wear them a lot, a callus can develop where the plastic transitions to the straps from rubbing against the heel of the palm. Still, I don’t know of a better CMC brace if you still want to handle tools. Also, once you’ve got the straps tight, make a fist and adjust them back off a bit for your best fit. These braces allow work gloves to slide over them, giving a bit more support at the wrist and some padding overall. If you've got this condition, every little edge can take some stress off. These definitely help me avoid as much inflammation as I can while still living my life. Minus 1 star due to lack of padding where critical for daily use.
