Mixed Easily & Worked Perfectly
I purchased Shellac to apply on a cedar kitchen table I am building. It worked out great! It is Dewaxed which allows other finishes to stick to it. I use the "Purple Shellac" to tint the tabletop and applied Polyurethane on top as a clear coat to protect the Shellac and the wood underneath. I put the required amount of shellac flakes in an herb grinder and turned them into powder. Then I put the powder into a mason jar and added correct amount of Denatured Alcohol making sure to shake it every 15 or 20 minutes while I was working in my shop. The next day I had a perfect shellac for my needs. Just remember to check the formula to get the right mix. I would highly recommend these Shellac Flakes for any woodworker of for anyone just doing a restoration or needing to finish a project.

Good value, will buy again.
Very good flakes, they dissolve well, dry hard and smooth and I haven’t had any trouble with topcoat finishes. I would not hesitate to buy this again. They are dewaxed and make an excellent sealer. I also applied several coats to a polished hardwood with very good results.

Works great!
Works great. I've only used the blonde so far but it dissolved easily and went on smoothe Update: I've used both and the first batches I made with denatured alcohol. It was my first experience with that and I'll NEVER use that again! It smells horrible, like gas, and I was having issues with it too. I switched to everclear 190 proof I got from the local liquor store and what a huge difference. It dissolved the flakes in about 3 hours vs overnight, and the smell wasn't bad at all especially compared to the denatured alcohol. It goes on so smoothe and the finish is amazing. Very happy with these flakes, just avoid the denatured alcohol and go with grain alcohol and you can't go wrong

Great Product
There is so much of this I may not use all of it for years. Great product and great color. Easy to use. If you give it time to dissolve, 24 hours at least, it dissolves nicely without clumps.

Timgle 35 oz Shellac Flakes Finish Shellac
These are great flakes, especially for the price. It's generally hard to find them in my area without paying double the price. Mix them into your solvent with a magnetic stirrer and you're good to go with no effort :D

Works great
I’ve used this product for years and it’s always performed well. I dissolve it in denatured alcohol and mix it thoroughly with a magnetic stirrer.

Product may be old
This is my first time using shellac flakes, but I read quite a bit about it before attempting to use it. The process is fairly simple and I got relatively good results after some trial and error. However, I have some concerns about this product. I was a bit skeptical as this was by far the cheapest flakes I found on Amazon, but it was my first time, and this item came with 2 different color and a good amount, which was a plus. On the positive side, I can say these flakes ARE de-waxed, and they are free of debris. Here’s the trouble… after proper mixing, applying, and drying, the finish is a bit streaky with dull areas and it is not hard like glass. An internet search revealed that the flakes with this problem may be old. A test is to put a few drops on a piece of metal or glass and allow it to dry overnight, what remains should be hard and brittle. These flakes failed that test, what remained 24 hours later was a bit soft, I could scrape it with my fingernail… these flakes are OLD. Unfortunately, I’ll have to pay more next time and find a more reputable shellac supplier.

Quality
I made three batches of shellac. I am not really that satisfied with the results. However, not bad.

Good quality, no performance issues.
Flakes melted in <2hrs using a rock tumbler to spin the jars and 99% ispropyl alcohol. Applied well, hardened fine, not sticky after a couple hours. I though I would dislike the amber, but actually creates a nice warmth. Will probably blend with the yellow in the future. Exceptional price.
