Hitachi-LG GP60 External DVD Drive, Slim Portable DVD Burner/Writer/Player for Laptop, Windows and Mac OS Compatible, USB 2.0, 8x Read/Write Speed - White

Bought this to burn a Video file for a project to play a DVD on an old system. Drive worked brilliantly out the box when plugged into Windows 11 laptop. Wrote to both DVD R and DVD RW with no issues whatsoever. Plays Audio CD and DVD quietly and I must say I am impressed by the quality of the price. I know there are cheaper models that have additional port functionality, but for my purpose I wanted to buy once and get quality, which this neat compact drive delivers each time.

I purchased this DVD writer on the advice of a film graduate to future proof the old dvd's I made with my camcorder. It is slim, lightweight and portable. It comes with an information DVD, which I haven't even looked at because it has been so easy to use! I have a macbook pro and already have a USB converter so installation was very easy. When loading my home dvd's the dvd driver takes a while, its is very noisy but I think this is more to do with the old dvd's rather than the product. It is a little slow with the pictures and the sound comes through first. If transfer the files straight to my external hard drive I am able to watch them perfectly from there. It plays the minidiscs direct from my camcorder, but I haven't worked out if I am able to transfer the files straight to external hard drive, or if I'll have to burn onto a dvd first. When playing a dvd of a film (not camcorder dvd) the noise is not a problem, the picture and sound are in sync. It skips forward/backwards well and pauses fine. The region is set to region 2 and this is easy to change. As a bonus, I am also able to load CD's of old photographs and copy these to external hard drive. This is a great little product, it does everything it is designed to and more! It is very well priced, it does what I wanted it to do and more. I am really happy to be able to future proof old memories.

Only 2 slight drawbacks, one being that it is usb 2.0 rather than 3.0 and the other being that it can be quite noisy. Otherwise, solid build quality and it works well. Haven’t used the included software enough yet to really comment on that.

Works straight out of the box. Pre-loaded with various PDFs and also Cyberlink Media Suite; however, no instructions as to how to install the software even if I wanted it which I don't. Could not quite read a 2004 DVD burned by a mate. Plays music CDs OK.

Great drive perhaps it seems not as quick as the item it replaced (LG) but it does the job and does it well happy with it no worries it looks quite smart also.

Arrived safely, plug and play, no problem at all!

I first bought one of these off another seller and it was awful, only loaded the disc 1 out 5 times - I was very dubious if these actually worked properly at all but as new PC didn't have an optical drive I needed one. I'm so glad I ordered this one, lovely white design to match my room and works perfectly every time.. It has a fairly short USB cable so bought a multi post USB with a long cable - now I can have my drive where I want it. The unit is incredibly lightweight so I have sitting on a rubber non slip mat to help give it stability, I also have it sitting raised up to give the drawer space to move in and out without catching the desk. I happily recommend this disc drive, a great piece of kit! I haven't tried playing a dvd on it, but have loaded over 40 data discs onto my new pc so far, plus numerous software discs, and have burned over 50 disc making hard copies of my data files without any problems. This follows a severe Hard drive crash and so I wanted to make hard copies of my work rather than always relying on a HD. Burning all those discs was really fast and easy.

I purchased this item based on its reviews but obviously did not read enough of them!! Item rips fine and quickly - fires cds out like a clay pigeon trap!! No issues with funtionality either however - when ripping the machine is very noisy and vibrates strongly - I have put blu tack on feet and wedges underneath + a stoneware jar on top just to quieten it down when ripping - thats how bad it is. Seems to me the tray is not a very precise fit and possibly the top is not flat. A little disappointing to be honest as I spent ages reading reviews and spent a little extra on this one. Back to Liteon for me.

Excellent lecteur DVD , lit à peu près tout le DVD est silencieux. Je le conseille , Car auparavant j'avais acheté un autre lecteur DVD sur Amazon et celui là Refusait de lire la plupart des DVD , C'était une catastrophe. Mieux vaut acheter celui là qui coûte 4 à 5€ de plus mais est parfait.

Dopo vari acquisti di prodotti similari, alcuni funzionanti altri meno, ho deciso di spendere qualche euro in più.....credetemi,ne vale davvero la pena. Avevo gia un vecchio modello della LG, il GP08 del 2010, peraltro ancora egregiamente funzionante ma col "difetto" di aver bisogno dell'utilizzo di 2 usb per alimentarlo, e questo invece molto più leggero e versatile e con tanto di CD con software per masterizzazione. Masterizza anche DVD, al contrario di altri che operano solo su CD. Quindi consiglio vivamente di fare il "sacrificio" di una spesa lievemente superiore, che vi ripagherà senza rimpianti. Oltretutto LG è sinonimo di buona qualità e funzionalità a prezzi accessibilissimi.

I like the LG Portable Slim DVD-RW Burner, it is sleek looking, smooth operation, the only downside if you can call that is it took weeks to receive it if you want to have free delivery, otherwise, it's good value.
