Exactly right.
I have led abortion recovery Bible study groups for approximately 15 years. I give this booklet to the women in our groups. It is tender, kind, and theologically accurate.

This is a small book - more like a booklet - which isn't what I was expecting. However, the key points it makes are very good, and useful. I'd actually give it about 3 1/2 stars.

Need More Info
The author describes a number of reasons why it's wrong to not forgive ourselves, but doesn't give ample solutions to being set free of having the burdon of not being able forgive oneself.

Short, excellent pamphlet on forgiveness
This is a great pamphlet to hand out to friends and co-workers who are dealing with forgiveness issues. I have a stack that I keep in my office to hand out, among other CCEF (Christian Counseling Education Foundation) brochures.

Only Adds Guilt to Guilt
It looked like it would be an encouraging, Christian booklet on the subject. After reading, however, it was sadly not what I expected (or hoped for). Instead, all it provided (at least from my point of view) was just another blame game, guilt trip toward Christian people suffering from this. The description of the booklet says the author, ".... pinpoints a deeper problem and a deeper solution to ongoing guilt." It starts off with the story of a woman who can't forgive herself for having an abortion. Instead of teaching coping skills on dealing with oneself for whatever reason, the author, "... clears the path to a joyful realization of complete forgiveness in Christ." But the woman already believes, "I know the Lord has forgiven me..." Her issue is not with God, it's with herself, and the book offers no practical solution, other than to add guilt for not being able to simply trust Christ and get over it.
