Soooo sharp. Recommended
Very nice size and it was sharp out of the box. I bought this on the neutral-recommendation of OUTDOORS55. I'm happy, so far, with the purchase but all should know this is not a first quality, BIFL knife. You will get more than what you paid for, but if you are building your lifetime collection, you should spend more. Recommended for what it is Update: Increasing my rating to five stars. I've had this now for 5 months and it is extraordinary. EXTREMELY sharp. SO sharp, be-careful-sharp. Great hand feel and perfect balance. Maybe it will be a BIFL knife? At this point, I think maybe it could be. Always my first choice among the many knives that I have. Strongest recommendation: but remember it is VERY sharp. Cut your finger off sharp, so be very careful

A few quirks, but overall great value
Sharp out of the box, cutting paper effortlessly. Blade design is minimal, but that’s not what I bought it for. Speaking of the blade, I got the shorter version 6 inch something which is fine, but this one has the profile closer to a a boning knife than a chef’s knife, so we’ll see how that works out. The back of the blade has a slight bump to it, which I could do without, but very slight. Still I wonder why that’s there as it seems to add nothing. Nice hefty feel to it, although perhaps a bit heavy in the handle if you’re fussy about proper weighting (knives should balance like a seesaw right where the blade meets the handle). Overall, it’s a pretty handsome little knife, although I think if I had to do it over again, I’d buy the bigger one. I suppose I could send this one back in exchange, but then again, the price goes up quite a bit so there’s that. I held back one star because of these things, and I really haven’t had a chance to see how well the blade will hold up. Apparently it’s quite hard steal, which usually equates to staying sharp longer, but being more brittle and there’s always the trade-off with the blade that stays sharp longer, because it’s also More difficult to sharpen. Update: I liked the knife so much I went back and bought the 8 inch version and again, razor Sharp right out of the box. If you wait, you can catch this knife on sale at a ridiculously discounted price, which is what I did., and it’s a no-brainer when they discount it. Don’t even think about it just buy it. If you don’t like it, you can send it back, but you won’t. I’m upgrading to five stars.

Excellent for the price
Very nice knife. Balanced well, and came decently sharp. I touched up the edge and it rivals any knife even at twice the price. Steel seems very good so I’m guessing it will hold a pretty good edge. So far after about 10 uses it is holding up

Sharpest knife I've purchased, right out of the box
Most knives require some amount of work to get the edge into decent enough shape to be useful. This knife is the exception to the rule. I didn't have to do anything to it before I started using it and it has performed nicely. The handle and balance of the knife are just what I would expect and it's comfortable to use over the course of an hour. It cleans up easily and doesn't take up a lot of space. I can't say anything yet about what it's like to sharpen as I haven't owned it long enough to find that out yet. The only negative thing I can say about it is the point can be somewhat sharp if you tend to use the knife two handed when chopping herbs. I use a Santoku style knife most of the time, which doesn't have such a sharp point on it, so that might be why I feel that way.

It will make your life easier!
It was on sale … it was an impulse buy since the knives in my kitchen drawer drive me crazy - they dull so quick and I am not a good sharpener. I thought maybe use it as a gift for daughter in law …. When it came I liked the look and size and decided to treat myself. And now it’s the only knife I use to prep my food. Tomatoe slicing ! Onion dicing! Meat cubing! It stayed sharp for now 3 months and so easy to use. You will not regret getting it for yourself or as a gift!

Good value knife
Good quality knife. Not as sharp and doesn’t retain the edge as good as my Japanese knifes. On par with my German knives. Good value.
