PIONEER A-Series MAX TS-A653FH 6.5" 2-Way Coaxial Car Speakers 340W Max

as soon as i turned the radio on after installing these i knew i'd made the right choice. i wanted more bass but controlled tight bass Up front and they deliver in spades. my 06 ram 3500 has its own plastic adapters so i didn't use the included ones which really are more aimed at gm/chevy. i had a heavier higher power rated 6x9's which had more midrange and treble but bass, not so much. the ram doors are sealed pretty well and filled with foam inserts to increase audio quality while reducing road noise that works well so i was a bit surprised that after the swap i had to turn the bass levels down at the same volume. wired to a small vevor 4ch amp at 2ohm they are quite loud and very clear without the tinny sound the quadraxial speakers they replaced. vocals are warm and precise with clean highs that are never harsh. they were super easy to install with mounting holes lining up perfectly with the factory holes so no drilling. i've got 50-60 watts rms running thru them and find they handle the power very well at all volume. they're pioneer so ya know they work and really a great value. don't let outrageous claims fool you.

Put these in a 2026 Frontier Pro-4X (non-Fender system), might have lost a little volume, but they still get very loud, louder than I need, and they sound worlds better than the stock speakers. Fitment was perfect, I believe Pioneer ships standard with generic Chevy brackets, so just make sure and get the right brackets for your Make/Model vehicle.Highly recommended. I’m hoping that being Aramid material that they will survive long in Florida heat.

I have these in my 2018 Lexus GX460 (non mark levinson) with stock amplifier. The install was relatively easy though I did have to dremel the adapters a bit to make them fit the front doors. The tweeters fit the stock location and were epoxied in place.I chose these because of their relatively high efficiency knowing that I was going to use them with the stock amp. Turns out I made a pretty decent choice for my application because they sound pretty good. I am not a super bass head but I do listen to metal, prog, and other music that depends on a tight, quick low end and these do not disappoint. It’s a significant step up in terms of bass quality and clarity, and the tweeters are fairly detailed without being screechy or offensive. Please take this praise with the caveat that they aren’t the highest of high end and undoubtedly spending more and/or an aftermarket amplifier would yield better results but for being a budget upgrade I’m pretty happy.

INITIAL REVIEW: So I scoured the Internet for reviews on Pioneers new line of A series speakers to no avail. Only reviews for the old line. I watched their clip on what they were trying to achieve with the new line, but that's all I could find.Price: There are a lot of speaker choices in this price range, and a fairly large jump in price for the next tier. I was happier with the previous A series in my Datsun, so decided to go with these again.Anyways, I bought the 6.5" coaxial Max. Install in a 2015 Genesis coupe. Since they're coaxial, I opted to install these ones in the rear, before buying and putting in all the work to install components in the front.I am running a Pioneer Nex 2660 deck. Currently no amps or subs.Firstly I installed one side only. Using balance to swap between rear right pioneer, and stock rear left. Very clearly they sing a little louder and much clearer, particularly in vocals. Zero decernable bass. However neither did the stock provide that. End result in quality, a flat out upgrade in every way over stock in sound.What became most apparent is that I don't believe these are meant to be installed without an amp. I will install a 4 channel amp next, and I have a feeling the sound quality will likely improve as nearly any stereo deck only outputs 15 watts rms, and these consume up to five times that.That said, I am hesitant to install these on the front just yet. I feel that if your car, like my Genesis coupe, has very bassy fronts, you'll only have top end, and it won't sound right. Again, they provide no bass on deck power. Maybe this will change when on a larger stand alone amp, but I doubt it.Additionally, if this is the top of the line for the A series, I wouldn't bother with the cheaper tier speakers in this new line. Especially on deck power. You'll likely be disappointed.Tuning: I played with the equalizer on the deck a bit. They are definitely mid high range. Using the preset vocal equalizer, they sound like I imagine they're supposed to. Any other setting and they fell out of range. The end result being, if you have a good subwoofer, they'll probably fill in cleanly.Packaging: very basic, polystyrene molded wrapped in cardboard shell with label. The box doesn't even mention A Series MAX, which I found odd, nor does it have almost any details. The box is imo outdated and unimpressive or eye catching. Strange, considering they are relaunching the whole A series line...Appearance: The speakers themselves look a little plain and nothing special. The goldish color looks nice though, assuming you ever see it again. The magnet is pretty small and they are very shallow mount, which could be a good thing depending on your ride. For the Genesis, they're easily 30% smaller and lighter than stock. Ultimately nothing special or any nice details to make a note of.Wiring: The wiring pigtail is thin wire. 16 gauge at best. The speakers use narrow spade terminals. Feels cheap, but pretty common for this tier of speakers.I'll update when I decide on fronts, subwoofer, and amplifier for these speakers.All in all, they're okay. Better than Kicker CS series? Hopefully yes, when amped.

Excellent speakers, just what you would expect from a brand like Pioneer. They meet all the listed specifications.

Surprised in a good way. I didn't expect much from these because they're small and inexpensive. I don't listen to loud music and for classical and jazz, they are reaching down into the 40 to 45 HZ range which is very listenable. I paired these with some 6x9s in the same series, they go a little bit lower. So with a little EQ and not cranking it too loud, they actually sound great.

They sound good real good

I bought these TSA653FH speakers to replace a pair of Pioneer TSA1685R speakers installed 10 years ago under a Pioneer DEH-X5500HD head unit. I figured that since everything was Pioneer the wiring orientation would be the same between the speakers. Wrong. I hooked up the small terminal of the existing speaker wire to the small terminal of the new speaker and no sound. In fact, there was no sound from any of my speakers, even those I didn't replace. I had to splice and reverse the terminals before I could hear any sound. There was absolutely no need for this. With that said, the sound quality of the speaker is very good, but not quite as good as my 4-way TSA653FH when they were new.

This replaced a 15 year old infinity entry level component speaker.V shape sound which can be adjusted by the amp and player. Definitely powerful.Pleased with this.

I used these to replace my OEM VW passat speakers. These are nicer sounding, and I had no issues with the speaker install (though you will need an adapter and cable to use these in a VW). I don't have any complaints, I will update if I have any issues at a future date. Also; I bought from Amazon Warehouse and they were in perfect condition, except I was missing a cable, though I didn't need it.For VW install:If you are also replacing VW speakers you'll also need an height adapter, cable adapter, door clips (they're circular vortex looking things that pop into the door), torx t30 (that's at least like 1" long to reach), some kind of hex key that fits into a t30 or a t30 right angle key style (since very low torque I used hex key), flathead/metal pry tool (take out clip things from metal part of door), trim tool of some kind or again a flathead if you don't care about damage. And a few hours per door, take your time, I didn't take out all the wires either, just rotated the door out of the way and rested it on a bit of wood.

So far so good, quality speakers you'd expect from Pioneer. Happy with my purchase

Good fit in my 2011 Toyota Tacoma double cab. If you have a subwoofer these speakers are a great upgrade. Not sure about the bass from them otherwise,

Really good speakers for the money, lesson I’ve learned with these I should’ve ordered some vibration dampening slides for my doors. After the break in period the treble and bass gets louder and very bassy but sounds terrible when your door and side mirrors are rattling away lol
