OMT 5 Gal Vacuum Chamber with Pump Kit 3.5 CFM, Glass Lid Degassing Station

I have tried other vacuum chambers. This one is my ultimate favorite. There's literally no bubbles after I get my resin out of it. I bought the 3 gallon size but you literally don't need one that big. If you are only doing cups at a time it is a tad bit noisy, but that doesn't bother me one bit because the machine works absolutely amazing. The seal on the lid still works amazing on it and it's super easy to use. I literally hooked this up by myself and that was a miracle.😂😂 thank Gooodness for instructions that you can actually understand. I think it was super affordable compared to some other models and this one top them all in my opinion.!! my resin pieces come out clear and beautiful every time. I will buy the exact same model if mine never wears out.💙

This vacuum pump and pot is pretty impressive. OK, I've just started using it over the last few days, but am very happy with it's performance. I am using it with Polycryl wood fortifier to stabilize knife handle scales. I'll check back here after I use the stabilized scales to make up some knives. I have used this vacuum setup several times, usually for 3 days at a time over the last several months. It holds 24 pounds of vacuum over 3 days. This works well for my use. I need to try cactus juice next to see how that works out. I definitely recommend this unit.

Overall, a great product and would purchase again. That being said there are some critics. First are minor and did not affect lost star. The instructions say to take to "30" of vacuum". The system would not take to that level, maxing out at ~23". The system has no leaks (when vacuum valve closed and pump turned off the system held at 23" for 2 hours, and the cactus juice bubbled the whole time. I suspect the issue is the gage is not calibrated or just inherently inaccurate. In the end as long as the system pulls a vacuum sufficient for the intended purpose, success. I took a star off for two reasons. First, the instructions are horrible. For no additional cost, pictures of each process could easily be added, as well as more clear instructions. An example is where to wrap the Teflon tape (provided). The second reason is the hose clamps suck. Turning them closed with any screw driver caused them both to strip. The reason is the screw follow through hole on the screw cage was not completely clear. A 5mm socket wrench allowed me to torque it enough to break through to the other side. One of them the hex head was poorly milled with a gob of metal keeping the socket from fitting. Bottom line, I recommend working the hose clamp before attaching it. Don't be surprised if you have to purchase a hose clamp. Another thing that spending a couple cents more on a little bit better hose clamp would be great. Anyway, assembly took about 15 minutes (most of that time spent jacking with the rinkydink hose clamps). For a budget vacuum tank it works great.

This unit does not work. I follow the terrible instructions exactly and can't get it to work. I've looked online for instructions and tutorials to see if I'm using it wrong, but I can't find anything for this specific product. There is no easy outreach for the manufacture, so I'm hoping this review catches someone's attention. If I follow the instructions and put my finger at the end of the vacuum tube there is suction and the pressure gauge works. If I follow the instructions and put the lid on it does nothing.

Something I wish I would’ve known ahead of time is that for the 2 gallon the maximum height of the container allowed is 5 inches tall and 7.8 inches wide. The instruction manual states the container inside can be no more than 4/5 of the width of the vacuum chamber or 2/3 of the height of the chamber. The 2 gallon measures 7 1/2 inches tall inside dimensions and 9 3/4 wide inside dimensions. The machine itself works fine however I am using smooth on 15 slow and it has a 50 minute working time total which I would say really you should be done working with this product at maximum 30 minutes to allow for bubbles to come to the top and the product to settle in. I mixed the product for two minutes with an attachment on my drill, keeping it low in the bottom of the container, then placed the container itself into the machine. After about 20 minutes, I gave up on getting all of the bubbles to go away. I did try this a few different times working slower, thinking maybe it was creating its own bubbles by having it on the highest setting and either way it was still bubbling at 20 minutes. I would not suggest using this machine with silicone because of the amount of time it takes to actually get the bubbles out.

I have used it several times with no problems.

First I will describe the problems I've had. The pot arrived with a small dent on the rim of the vacuum chamber (stainless steel pot). I tried to ignore it and at first it worked without issue. On my 4th time using it, it would not hold a vacuum, after moving the lid a little and pushing down on it, it held. This happened several times and it was obvious that it would be a consistent issue. The second problem was the bottom of the pot/vacuum chamber. As soon as I heated the pot with my hot plate (on low heat with a Fisher Isotemp hot plate, that is very accurate) the bottom became concaved. (bulging out). Then after it heated up some more, the bottom of the pot suddenly and loudly popped inward. It caused my half pint mason jar to bounce off the bottom of the lid, landing on its side and spilling the contents. It was quite startling and was the determining factor in returning the item. I will say that the pump was surprisingly quiet. It is somewhat louder as the vacuum reaches its limit. But it's not as loud as I was expecting. The lid of the vacuum chamber is very nice, it's thick glass with a nice gasket around the rim. I did return the item. I hope this review helps.

As others have stated, the instructions aren't the best (the images are tiny and unclear). There is a QR to grab and I did that and also watched the video here after pouring the oil into the top cup instead of removing the cup as the video shows. Even so, there was only enough oil for the 2.0L machine to fill it just over half way (bottle is 220mL where the device says it requires 225mL, so I'm sure not all of it has yet settled from pouring it into the outlet cup - there is a plastic valve that can be removed to allow the oil to go ahead and drain into the reservoir). I got full pressure my first few tries - so if others aren't, then you need to check your hoses and seals - don't OVER tighten them either as that is just as bad as under tightening. The larger pump is more quiet than my single stage I used for my airbrush, so I was pretty impressed with that! Being new to Vacuum Chambers (or Degassing as the kids call it today), I only wish the top had more of a lip to assist with centering (more as a safety precaution for us Newbies!) Oh, and hey!? Can there be a clearer image of how far down we need to cut the nipple off of the pressure gauge seal prior to use!? I made mine flush. Great product overall!!! Wish they had a direct link to more oil - anything else I look up looks yellow. READ THE WARNING ON THE LABEL OF THE KETTLE - IT TELLS YOU THAT YOU CANNOT USE IT FOR CERTAIN ITEMS; USER ERROR CAUSES THE RUBBER SEAL TO FAIL AFTER TWO USES!

My daughter works with resin and this works perfect for her smaller articles.

No problems with the unit at all yet. Great for the price.

Pretty good. Does the job. Slightly better quality than the similar looking ones around $100. I didn't have the problem of sealing the chamber - the rubber seal was a bit stiff as a brand new item so the initial few times I just wiggled the glass top and press down slightly to get the vacuum started. The one issue where I knocked off a star was either the vacuum gauge is a bit off or the actual vacuum wasn't at 30. After running for 5 mins, picture shows what it stabilized at. It worked fine enough. Maybe if it was at actual 30 it could've pulled the bubbles out a bit faster but I'm ok with this for the price.
