These combs really hold the hair well. Combs like this are impossible to find now so I was very happy to find them on Amazon. Great size, work well, and look good.

Holds Hair securely, and doesn’t poke your scalp. I live in the tropics, and this time of year the humidity and heat is intense. I usually wear my hair up because it gets in the way when I’m doing things. But when my hair is piled on top of my head, over the hours the hair on the nape of my neck frizzes and knots, becoming unmanageable and not very comely. I used to use these years ago just to hold my hair off my face, but for summer this works great to tame the knotted mess from an up do in this heat, my hair is very long and thick. Generally it’s become curly as I’ve gotten older, but I think these would hold even straight, fine hair. It doesn’t pinch, and is very secure. I even dozed off after dinner laying flat on the couch and I forgot the comb was there on thr back of my scalp. It didn’t budge, didn’t poke me, or break from the weight of my head. These definitely work. Make sure you get the right size for your purpose and type of hair. I will order more in br 4” size as well, but these even held my hair off the face when I wore it down as a test run out doing errands earlier. My hair stayed put and I didn’t have to readjust. Glad I found the brand my mom remembered using.

Great hair comb. Used it with my costume for the Jane Austen Festival in the UK. These kept my thick hair up all evening. No slips or loose hair. Solid plastic.

I like these, they do have a good grip. I thought they'd be a little longer, but overall I'm very happy with this product. (Also the packaging is cute)

These keep your hair in place as promised. I like the clear comb as it is not noticeable in your hair.

I was happy to find that these grip tooth combs were still in production. They are great--they stay in place without having to reposition them. This is a product that has truly stood the test of time over generations!

These were a bit expensive, but I decided to give them a go based on the great reviews. I'm glad I did. I've never had any luck getting hair combs to stay put in my long hair. These go in and don't budge until I take them out. I can even manage a twist with a half up and the combs stay in place without crimping my hair. I'll never be without them again!

Good grip without pulling or pinching the scalp. Comfortable and light to wear all day. You forget that you have combs holding up. Excellent for my fine thinning hair.

I'm so happy with these - I couldn't for the life of me get side combs to work, so had resorted to using Bobby pins in my vintage hairstyles. These are so much better, dont pull/damage my hair, are so easy to use and they really do stay put. I bought both the 1.5" & 3.25" as they're the only available lenghts - I just hope amazon starts stocking the full range of sizes!

Expensive but they last so much longer than the cheaper brands. They work brilliantly.

I was looking for a legend (almost not kidding), and I found something rather tiny and flimsy. I mean, I trust that this is exactly how this product was when it was exciting everyone many decades ago. I just... got a bit disappointed by lack of magic. It does the job though. Just like countless others, and for considerably more coins - putting it into an a-ok category.
