Watch a YouTube video and turn a screwdriver - you can do this! My 40 YO house exterior sockets were not weather proof or GFIs. Before adding a new exterior sprinkler controller I installed two of these sockets. Just connect 3 wires - OH! and first TURN OFF the power first and confirm with a GFI tester before proceeding. EZ for any handyman or woman. Good value, fit, quality, test light. I added an exterior weather proof socket cover of polycarbonate.

Product didn't work. I spent a long time troubleshooting to see if there was something wrong with internal wiring only to find this product was defective out of the box. Huge water of time, and then I couldn't retire. The defective product because I was too busy woth other things and the ti.e window lapsed. I would not recommend amazon basics gfci circuit.

The weather-resistant GCFI receptacle lasted 1.5 years in a weather-resistant outlet box that was exposed to the elements. To be fair, there was moisture in the outlet box when I opened it, so that may have contributed to the receptacle failing.

I HATE being forced to use these useless GFCI things. Every single name brand outlet thats outside in a proper licensed electrician installed bad has failed in a couple of years. This is my first Amazon Basics one but even if it only lasts as long as the others, at least I’m not spending as much money

Installed this in an outdoor weather resistant box and it works as expected. The test and reset buttons feel solid and the LED indicator is useful to quickly confirm power status. Wiring was straightforward and the terminals held the wires securely. Nice cheaper alternative to more expensive brands while still feeling safe and reliable for DIY electrical projects. Make sure to verify local electrical code requirements before installation.
