Chappell Roan's deeply personal debut album, 'The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess'. Chappell explains, 'after 4 years in the making comes my 14-song album holding stories of unearthing my true self and fearlessly embracing queerness. With the contrast of my Midwestern upbringing and living in one of the biggest cities in the U.S., The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess mirrors the rollercoaster of being the popstar I always wanted to be'. Review: My own guilty pleasure - a wonderful debut - Pretty without all the make-up and a fabulous voice, she has written a great set of songs. Perhaps my favourites are the slower ones - Casual (great video), Coffee, Kaleidoscope and Picture You are all wonderful - but there are a few uptempo bangers, especially Femininomenon and Guilty Pleasures. OK, a little explicit language but I can live with that. Reading a biography of her and the singers she was influenced by, I was initially surprised to see Karen Carpenter's name listed; but, when you hear them, you can understand why Karen is there. Other names like Lana Del Rey, Stevie Nicks and Ellie Goulding seem more likely. In repeat listening, I realise there are no filler tracks here, so it's 49 minutes of sheer guilty pleasure. It means a 4-star is now a 5-star album. Review: As described - Daughter loves it, so that's all that matters.

Fantastic album
Reviews are not wrong you will play this album from start to finish and not skip a single track! It's a bit sweary to play in earshot of young kids. I will play this is the car on my own and whilst do my ironing to make it a bit more bearable. The style of songs are so different from each other, it's almost like they are by a different artist. Some are really lively with a good beat and a very catchy tune but there are a couple that are slow and quite melancholy and are sang from the heart. This is going to be a favourite album of mine for a long time. A very talented artist, I'm really glad I bought it this album. I just wish my journeys to and from work were longer so I could enjoy listening to it more!

Fantastic voice
I am new to Chappell Roan and at age 66 probably not her target audience. However, I read an article about her and listened on YouTube and decided to buy this CD. She has a beautiful voice and I've enjoyed every track. They all seem to be written from the heart. Highly recommended.

Pop Perfection
This album absolutely deserves to be experienced on vinyl. The sound quality is incredible - you can hear every synth layer, every vocal ad-lib, and the production really shines in this format. "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess" is just pure, unapologetic pop brilliance. Chappell Roan has created something that feels both nostalgic and completely fresh. The theatricality, the queer joy, the vulnerability - it all comes through so powerfully. Songs like "Red Wine Supernova," "Casual," and "Pink Pony Club" hit even harder when you're sitting with the album front to back. The vinyl packaging itself is gorgeous. The gatefold design and artwork capture the campy, colorful aesthetic perfectly. It's clear this was made with care for the format, not just as an afterthought. Pressing quality is excellent - no warping, minimal surface noise, and it plays beautifully. I've spun dozens of times and it still sounds pristine. If you're a fan, the vinyl is absolutely worth it. If you're new to Chappell, this is the way to discover her. This album is going to be a classic, and having it on vinyl feels like owning a piece of pop history. Can't recommend highly enough!
