No slip floor
My dog is a pig... We had one of those trays that was supposed to catch the food and water. Nope! food everywhere and it turned into a mushy messy because he'd drip water on the food crumbs. It was gross! He is also a chewer. My parents had given us their old travel bowl that they didn't need anymore and it was great except he chewed it after a week. This bowl is the best, it's metal, the lip to keep the water in comes off easily but the dog cant get it off. It has a rubber base to keep it in place (if only Smokey wouldn't keep trying to eat it) and best of all there is NO WATER mess. We don't even have to keep a towel under it anymore.

Finally - no water spillage
Our 2 cats loved to paw the water out of their bowl. Did buy the smaller one first but returned it for a larger size. Love it.

stable, spill proof - watch your size though
I've purchased this design over the years - Large (4#) for the dogs, Medium (2#) and Small (1#) for cats or very small dogs. I use the cover for the cats, who play in the water and will spill half a bowl on the floor! Finally, these have been great when sailing, power-boating, and RVing. They don't spill when traveling, period! The 16oz size is a very small bowl...good for a cat or tiny dog only. Now you know.

Pretty Good
Like several of the other reviewers, I have a naughty kitty boy who loves to make a huge, watery mess by playing with his water bowl. It drives me up the wall! First I bought the little brat an expensive cat fountain, but after a while he figured out how to pry off the top, and then he discovered the fiendish joy of tipping the whole damn thing over and flooding my dining room! After losing that battle, I gave the fountain away and resorted to buying bricks to pin a regular water container up against the wall to prevent him from pushing it around or tipping it over. The bricks solved that problem for the most part, but there was still the issue of him splashing all the water out onto the floor. This product got mixed reviews, but after searching and researching all that Amazon had to offer, I decided that this bowl was the best option for my naughty boy. I have used it for three days now, and it’s definitely a big improvement from what I had before. To be perfectly honest, the bowl isn’t skip-proof. It has a rubber ring around the bottom to make it skid-resistant, but the bowl itself is so lightweight that the ring doesn’t help very much. If they made the bowl heavier, or at least weighted the bottom, it would work much better. My cat easily batted it around on the floor the very first time he used it, so I resorted again to using the bricks I bought to anchor it down. It’s kind of an eyesore, but it solved the problem. Also, it isn’t totally splash-proof either. My cat was still able to get some water onto the floor. I try not to fill it too much because the higher the water level the more water he’s able to splash out. That being said, this bowl has GREATLY cut down on the watery mess. I was concerned that he would figure out a way to pry the splash guard ring off the top rim, but it’s on pretty tightly. Some reviewers have complained about this, but I’m actually glad it’s hard to get off.All in all, this product is the best solution to my cat’s water fetish that I’ve found so far. I’m happy with it and think it’s worth the money because it has saved me a lot of aggravation and has cut down on clean-up.

Little pricey but a solid bowl
So I read a couple good reviews and a couple bad ones before purchasing this for my new 9 week old GSD puppy.Don't believe the review about the splash free cover not coming off, the person that wrote that needs to go hit the gym. Yes, it is solid and will take a little bit of strength to get off, but it does come off. besides I rather it take some force to get off rather then it be able to come off easily have the dog run around playing with it.If you are lazy and want to just dump the water bowl and refill it, this is NOT the bowl for you. You will have to take off the anti-splash cover each time. For those who believe that this water bowl is going to be absolutely 100% splash proof you will be disappointed. No bowl is going to do that. If you are looking for one. I suggest you go to the vet and ask for a permanent IV site to be placed on your dog or cat so you can give it IV fluid instead of water, then be stared down like a stupid person by the vet.The bowl itself I would rate 5/5 as of right now- There was a review that got me worried because they said that rust began to form on the bowl itself after 2.5 weeks, which I will be on the look out for. However it is working out nicelyThe quality of metal is 4/5- I rate this 4/5 because like mentioned above, regarding rust I cannot determine the quality of the metal in terms of longevity.- The metal is thick and heavy so my puppy cannot tip it and carry it aroundThe ONLY problem with this item I currently have is the bottom rubber gasket. It comes off WAYY too easy. I can just barely rub it and it will fall off. I may have to put super glue or something to hold it. Maybe I just got a defective product.Over all I would recommend this product to others.

Waste of money
It’s neither spill proof or splash proof - a complete waste of money

Awesome!
This is a good water dish. The stainless steel is reasonably heavy. The splash-proof top keeps the water in even when I kick the bowl. I have driven with it full of water in the car both in town (corners, braking, accelerating) and on the highway and never had any water spill. My lab who likes to carry large object in her mouth has not flipped this yet, but I can see how a large dog could figure out how to flip it.The top snaps off with a bit of force, which is good because I wouldn't want it to come off easily. Being SS it is easy to clean and looks clean. Two areas for improvement: It would be nice to have another hand hold on the other side for carrying. There is only the one shown in the picture. Second, the rubber ring on the bottom does come off easily, but I just removed it, cleaned and dried the SS and the black ring, ran a bead of silicon inside the ring and put it back on the bowl to secure it.

LIghtweight, spilled
This is a very lightweight bowl. It got knocked over and spilled the 2nd day I had it.The rubber at the bottom will be difficult to keep clean, it comes off easily. Not very well made.

Buen plato se ve de buena calidad, ayuda si pero no evita por completo que el perro ensucie el piso, to lo compre para mi shihtzu que se empapa y empapa el piso cada que toma agua, mejoró pero no evito que esto ya no sucediera...

Used this for a 30-hour drive; no spills!
We tied our two small dogs to their respective back seats in the car for a long 30-hour drive to see family. We put this bowl on the seat in between them and it never spilled, not even once! Would highly recommend. The no-spill barrier is also removable for washing which is convenient.
