Staedtler 2.0mm Mechanical Pencil Silver Series (925 25-20)

This is a truly high quality mechanical pencil, one of the few 2mm versions that use a click advance system as opposed to the more common (for 2mm) clutch method. Personally I like both types, there is something satisfying in the simplicity of a straight forward clutch pencil, both methods have their appeal. Given that the 925 25-20 is a mechanical pencil rather than a clutch I think it should be compared to the likes of the Rotring Rapid Pro 2.0 and not something like the Rotring 600 2.0. The Staedtler is a fine pencil, nicely made and all metal - the end cap is metal too (on mine certainly). It looks to be aluminium and not plastic as suggested in another review; perhaps there is some variation on the material used at various times? The inner tube appears to be made from brass. Proportinally it is very similar the the Rapid Pro, a slightly shorter knurled grip area but of similar roughness and giving a comfortable hold. The Staedtler feels slightly lighter in the hand than the Rapid Pro but it is nicely balanced. One advantage that this pencil has over the Rapid Pro is the addition of a lead hardness indicator (4H - 4B) which also locks in place, much better than the loose, free spinning indicator you sometimes get. Overall the build quality, materials, mechanism, and comfort in use are every bit as good as the Rapid Pro. At the typical UK price it is a great pencil and a worthy option to any Rotring model, at the price paid here it is an absolute bargain. My pencil was delivered from Japan in 14 days, definitely worth the wait.

A high-quality mechanical pencil that feels solid and comfortable in hand. The grip is excellent, and the lead feeds smoothly without breaking. A great choice for precise writing and drawing.

Just bought both Like the rOtring the Staedtler also features a metal alloy barrel but is cheaper and arguably the internals are better made (all metal inside, the rOtring has plastic internals). Both have similar dimensions and weight and the feel is pleasant and expensive for both. BUT the rOtring cost £28.75 and it is normally a steep £40+. The Staedtler a mere £14.53 and an absolute steal.

Great item, good grip and weight. Being picky but a shame they didn’t put a sharpener in the top button.

Very happy with this pencil. I have several 780 C's but I find the 2B leads, which I use occasionally, are a bit stiff and difficult to get out (as the 780 C relies on gravity). Whilst I still find the 2B leads to be a bit stiff to get in, the "click" mechanism of this pencil makes them much easier to use. The window showing the grade of the lead installed in the pencil is a nice touch. They also come in dark blue and I may invest in another one. Recommended.

Not much to say here, it is very well built and has a 2 mm lead core, that is unusual for this type of mechanical pencil as they usually come in lead weights of 0.5, 0.7 and 0.9 mm. So good for Staedler Japan and the 2 mm lead pencil that is for once all metal so it is even sturdier than one would expect. This model does have a lead grade indicator which is handy if you have a number of same type of pencil and you like having a different lead without having to change over as many people like lead grades other than HB but it is cool as in great! I would recommend this to artists and even tech geeks, it is simply great, I should know.

Just what my husband was looking for.

The Staedtler 2.0mm Mechanical Pencil is an amazing all metal construction with a great grip for holding. I purchased both the Silver and Blue versions. Both versions supplied by the same reseller came as expected. Would highly recommend these to anyone who loves Staedtler equipment.

As the title says, the cap keeps falling off. I think it's a manufacturing error. Other than that, the pencil works as intended. I do wish that it had a built in sharpener and/or eraser.

Si estás pensando tener un buen portaminas, por un poco más, recomendaría comprar éste en lugar del Mars Technico también de Staedtler. Que es el mejor valorado en todo amazon. Ventajas: - Material 100% metálico. El Technico, sólo tiene metal el agarre, el resto es plástico. - Mejor distribución de peso. El Technico tiene el peso descompesado, debido al agarre antes mencionado. - Tiene un indicador giratorio de dureza de mina de 4H a 4B, en vez de usar el lío de colores que se ha empezado Staedtler en hacernos creer que es lo mejor (sí para ellos). Un dato importante si lo usas para dibujo y tienes más de uno. - A pulsar, la mina sale por "ticks". En el Technico, tienes que poner la mano debajo o apoyarlo en la mesa porque sale entera de golpe al pulsar. - Es elegante. Es una cuestión estética que no aporta nada, pero tiene un cromado muy bonito. Recuerda más a un bolígrafo Parker que a un portaminas. Desventajas: - Viene de Japón por lo que tarda un poco más en llegar. (No entiendo cómo una empresa europea, sólo lo fabrica en Japón). - No tiene afilaminas incorporado. - El afilaminas de Steadler NO le sirve, ya que tiene un diámetro mayor y no cabe. Otros: - Es ligeramente más pesado, lo cual es una ventaja o desventaja según tus gustos o para qué lo quieres, caligrafía, sketching.... Resumiendo, compra 100% recomendable, no vas a encontrar un portaminas mejor por ese precio.

Arrived in new condition with just a transparent plastic sleeve. All metal construction, including the internals. No eraser. No lead pointer / sharpener. Comes with one HB lead installed. So far, my hubby is happy.
