How do you know when a mouse is caught

It has a green light that shows when it is activated, which changes to red when it has caught something.

Is there an indicator light to show when something has been caught?

Yes there is. It should go green. I have not caught any mice in it though.

Does this product kill rats as well?

The hole is too small for a rat to go into. Maybe there is a version for rats. In any case, I would estimate that in the past 18 months, I have caught around 15 mice. NONE of them were caught by this product - all of them using old fashioned mouse traps.

Is it silent in operation? Or is there a buzz or a zap if it gets a mouse?

Don't know what happens the moment it gets the mouse but there is no noise afterwards. A light flashes intermittently to let you know it has been activated.
