Xiaomi Band 8

I have no doubt this device can do a million more things than I will ever use it for and I can't comment on those. All I really needed this for was the fun of counting my steps - it does this so much better than my band 6 did. Telling me the time, entertaining me with info about how many calories I have used and the general info about the doings of my fairly inactive day.I have the choice of many watch faces, so one can choose one that really suits ones personality. The straps are detachable and one has other options of how to wear it other than on one's wrist - which might one day be a real perk to me.Best of all, and the bit I feared the most being not very Techi at all, it was an absolute synch to set up on the app on my phone. What a relief!! It is indeed a marvellous bit of kit and I am really enjoying it!

I used to have older models, they were great but this last one is such a massive upgrade!Before getting this one I tried something like 3 different brands, but they were all so bad compared to this one. Very accurate step, location andore counting. This is the best.

I bought the device in Feb 2024. Initially I was really happy with the purchase. Great display, great features, sleek design. I took it a couple of times to a swimming pool session. All was fine. Couple months later the band started to react to rain droplets as if the display was being touched on. I initially thought nothing of it. Last week I took the band for another swimming pool session and upon contact with the water the device started to constantly vibrate. I couldn't get it to stop so I turned it off. After coming back home I plugged the device to charger (only way to turn it back on). The device constantly displays red battery icon. No matter how long I leave it charging it doesn't charge. I reached to Xiaomi UK suppoort only to be told that "As of now, the device is not supported by UK warranty". I asked for more elaborate explanation "after checking the IMEI/SN you provided, we were unable to locate the official warranty information for your product". Whatever that means. Thankfully Amazon was able to help and offered me a full refund but it goes to show that Xiaomi brand isn't to be trusted.

This is my 3rd or 4th mi band and I have always loved them.Several features have changed as my previous one was a mi band 5 but it proved to be durable, it had been chewed by my dogs three times when I dropped it by still worked fine.I have always had to replace these bands because I dropped it and lost it never due to malfunctioningAs for the miband 8 am still getting my way around it but so far it seems good.

Bought for my son’s birthday. He’s very happy with it…

this watch has all the features you require and battery life is around 2 weeks between charges overall a very nice item

Original review below this edit;I’ve had the mi band 8 for 1 year now and I’m really underwhelmed. I’ve had a few occasions now where it has disconnected from my iPhone completely and needed a full reboot which has wiped weeks of data and trends. Also some other annoying things, the timer quite often turns itself off if you touch the screen accidentally as there is no Lock Screen with this function, which can be really annoying at work. I’ve also had quite a lot of sleep events missed. Particularly naps and shorter night time sleeps. Another downside is that it has a mind of it’s own in the shower or if exercising in the rain, quite often water drops will operate the screen and end workouts or take you to a different function.Overall two stars off. I’ve been the mi bands biggest fan for many years but won’t be buying another one after this, time to try something with more reliability and better sleep/exercise functions.Original review;I’ve had the mi band version 6 for over 2 years now. All in all I’ve been massively impressed with it. The only downside was that after 2 and a bit years it had a total meltdown and failed. However for 28 pounds I have no complaints.The mi band 8 is a definite improvement. Firstly the screen is bigger and easier to see and navigate. I was dubious about the strap change which is now a clip in instead of the silicone mould, however it is very comfortable and time will tell if it is durable.Best features:- Vibrate wake up alarm which is great if you have to wake up without disturbing the whole house.-Improved sleep tracker, you can now view your sleep breakdown on the actual watch and not just the app.-Impressive selection of watch screen layouts.-Huge selection of activity trackers for different sports etc.-The slightly bigger screen makes a big difference.Only slight downsides, is that the charging cable is not the same as previous which means throwing all my previous away and although it advertised a 2 year guarantee it’s really not obvious how you activate that.The price has doubled since my previous mi band as well but for £50 it’s still good value and a very impressive and reliable piece of kit, I imagine this price will fall over time as well.I was going to send back and get the cheaper band 7 if I had any major reservations about the 8 but I’ll be keeping this, it’s a big upgrade.

I liked the way it worked in Mi Band 6. I though that buying mi Band 8 would be just an upgrade.Instead, I found that a core functionality like the integration with Google Fit is not working anymore.Also, the Smart unlock is not working with my Android, which was so useful.I tried to check my old records about vitality, such as hearth rate, from my previous years with Mi Band 6 and I could not find them in the app. Thanks God I had it in sync with Google Fit by then. But now, I can not trust that my records will be stored for the future.I will buy a better device unless they fix these issues soon.
