I haven't had this in years, but got a craving recently. I haven't had any jerky since I got full dentures, but remembered that this is the only kind I like that is anywhere close to tender enough for me to try. I can't buy it anywhere near me, so was happy to find it on Amazon! I ordered a 14oz bag. It came super fast! It's perfect! It's moist and tender, like I remember. I can chew it with my (ill fitting, temporary) dentures! I can't imagine why I've seen reviews complaining about the texture. The texture is amazing to me! I guess if you want your jerky to be hard and super dry, this isn't for you. But if you want something tender and super flavorful, buy this!!! The original is the only I've ever had, and is the best tasting jerky I've ever eaten, period. It's a little sweet, but also peppery, and it works together to make something beautiful. If you've ever eaten maple pepper bacon, this is very similar in flavor! I'm going to keep buying this here. I recommend it as highly as I possibly could! Something I'm surprised I didn't see advertised much more is that this product is gluten free! This is extremely important to me. I don't personally need gluten free foods, but my oldest son is a type 1 diabetic who also has Celiac disease. So he can't eat ANY gluten, nor can he eat high carbohydrates or high sugar foods. It's very hard to find acceptable snacks for him, especially with the costs of most gluten free items being sooo high. I was so pleased when I saw that these are gluten free and that I can share with him!!! Most have soy sauce, which isn't g.free typically, but perky jerky uses gluten-free soy sauce in their jerky! Amazing!

Surprisingly soft. You could almost eat it without any teeth. A little sweet. And it comes in small pieces, not big strips.

I ABSOLUTELY love perky jerky they are the ONLY brand of turkey jerky I will eat!! The tender pieces are just divine in taste and texture!! I would absolutely give you 5 stars IF!! it didn’t seem like every other bag I order I get one two MAYBE 4 actual pieces! The rest is chopped up crumb! I love the crumbs but I can’t eat the whole pieces of peppercorn so I have to be careful! And it does really suck when it seems every other purchase the bag has either been a not as fresh or the bag is nothing but crumbs! Like I said I wouldn’t mind it so much if I didn’t have to worry about the peppercorns or you offered like the end of the bag crumbs as their own and sorted actual pieces of jerky to jerky crumbs or smaller pieces! I got my order the other day and I knew it was gonna be a crumb bag as per the pattern! So as much as it pained me to do I ordered Kirkland brand turkey jerky! Let’s see if it can compare!! I’d also like to add that there is literally one store that I know of that sells perky! Otherwise I have to buy it off here!! There has to be a better way!!!!

For over a decade, I had primarily been a part of the "Jack Link's Turkey Jerky" camp. It use to have nice, big, flat, light-colored pieces that were easy to bite into and chew (as is advertised in their supplied product picture here on Amazon), and the few small pieces that collected at the bottoms of the bags were still good enough to eat. However, the quality of their turkey jerky really took a nosedive over the past year or so. Now their turkey jerky is all dark colored, hard, small, most pieces round, some pieces having fat on them still. After trying to find a better source for around a year (tried Amazon, local Walmarts, and other local grocery stores), I finally gave in and said enough was enough. After reading through some turkey jerky reviews here on Amazon, I decided to give this Perky Jerky brand a try. I purchased a bag of their original flavor, and after examination and the first few pieces, I will now be leaving Jack Link's behind. This Perky Jerky brand offers much better pieces of turkey jerky, larger pieces, soft, easy to bite into and chew. Not only that, but it's much better pricing-wise too. Two bags of Jack Link's Turkey Jerky adds up to 11.7oz and (at the time of this review) ~$16, while one bag of this Perky Jerky is 14oz and (at the time of this review) $13. My one small nit-pick is that the original flavor could use just a bit more pepper. Even without it, it's much better than Jack Link's. I'll be sure to give the other flavors a try later.

My first response to this product was that yes, the texture was too soft...just not what you're expecting from a jerky. However, it really grew on me and the flavor was absolutely AMAZING. I got to the point where beef jerky kind of tastes awful to me now. I ate a serving of this every day for a year as a protein packed snack and loved it...until a few months ago. I don't know what happened but I got a bag from Amazon that just tasted awful, kind of like stale fat, not rotten or rancid, just stale. Thought it was a fluke but then had the same thing happen in my next order. I wrote to the company and heard nothing back. Forgot to cancel my "subscribe and save" order and thought "I'll give them one last chance...and they failed again. I order 3 bags at a time and 2 were fine, the 3rd was awful - same stale oil/fat taste. I don't know what is going on, clearly there are supply issues, judging from the lack of availability, which is understandable but it shouldn't result in selling a subpar product and/or a lack of quality control. It most certainly shouldn't result in ignoring customer complaints about quality especially given that they guarantee their products.

This is ridiculously expensive marvelous tasting turkey jerky that I can afford to buy once a year as a Thanksgiving Day treat. It is not possible to eat a "one serving" sized portion! Very lucky if I can stop at about a quarter of a bag at a time. Addictive "healthy" food though nothing that addictive can be totally healthy! If you are rich and never think about the cost of food so that you will survive another day, go ahead and buy as many as you desire. Of course that will probably raise the price for the rest of us who are poor. Supply and demands, and corporate greed, works that way and causes inflation. Still the product is wonderful. I hope I can literally afford it next year as a Thanksgiving treat or better yet for my birthday which comes sooner! Call this a mixed review therefore the 3 star rating. If it cost less (it did some time ago) the review would be a definite 5 star! The stuff really is that good taste-wise.

I've been a fan of perky jerky for a long time. This is the best jerky when it's fresh, which the original, teriyaki, and other common flavors almost always are. This brand is the tenderest and most flavorful jerky that I've tried. Unfortunately, once I buy a product on Amazon or put it in my Lists they raise the price. $12.99 + $2 off coupons for 1st purchase and now it's $18.69 for same product. This has been happening consistently with many of my purchases and/or items I add to my list. For example, I added Valvoline 5w-30 Full synthetic 5qt motor oil to my list on 3/22/2020 for $21.74. The next day it was $29.99. All other Valvoline products of different viscosity or max-life, etc. was still $21.74. This also happened to ostrich lounge chairs I added on 3/26/2020 for $35.99 & $38.99 respectively. When I checked back on 3/28/2020 the chair (colors) I picked blue and pink had each increased $3 & $4 respectively. This is unfortunate that Amazon is now taking advantage of customers, who may not notice the change, likely due to some sort of algorithm to increase profits at expense of trusting customers . It's very disappointing and this seems to be new business practices. Very disgraceful!!
