No. You move the pieces manually. The board recognizes and tracks each move you make.

Why are there marks on the board where the chess pieces were placed?

Chessboard Wood naturally darkens through oxidation. Areas covered by chess pieces receive less air and may darken more slowly, causing temporary color differences. Store the pieces separately when not in use.

Are the chess pieces hand-carved?

Yes. The chess pieces are hand-carved, so slight variations are part of their individual character.

Why can't I connect to Bluetooth?

Enable GPS on your phone,the BLE connection relies on GPS,then allow location access for the Chessnut app.Do not pair the board in your phone settings.In the app,tap the Bluetooth icon to connect.Make sure the blue LED flashes;press Power if needed.

How do I save and export an over-the-board game?

In OTB Mode,a standard starting position begins recording automatically.For another position,press "+" to start and press "+" again to end. Connect to the iOS/PC/MacOs Chessnut app to upload saved OTB games; then cleared from the board.
