Many years ago I found this book in a list book store. It is now unavailable there and I was happy to find it on Amazon. It is a thought-provoking little book, great to pass around the table at dinner parties. It makes you answer questions that are impossible to answer! Glad they are theoretical questions - for now. Enjoy! It will always be a superb hostess gift. Buy several while you can.

If... is a great book for ice breaking and for learning more about your significant other. There are fun questions (one year in the world all expenses paid), ethical questions (how would you murder someone), questions you'd rather not think about (most terrifying moment of your life), messed up questions (who and how would you torment someone for a day), death questions (last thing you want to see before you die), history questions (what historic words would you like to have uttered) and questions to fight with people about (worst television show ever made).I actually learned a lot about my boyfriend asking him questions from the book and it bought us into some dialogue that took us well into the evening. I eventually want to bring this book to a party. Be aware that this book can bring about things you might not necessarily want to know about others so you can pick and choose questions, but if your being adventurous, pick a page and read all the questions. It will make for a stimulating evening.

I bought this present in preparation for my family's Thanksgiving. We were having some new members join us (new husbands/wives/significant others of family members) and I wanted to find a fun way to start conversations that helped everyone relax and get to know each other, without it being a pressured "ice breaker" game. This book was perfect! There are so many fun, interesting questions that are genuinely a joy to answer. We passed the book around and each person chose a question from a random page. It worked great, and everyone had a wonderful time! There are some rather intense questions that we skipped over during this dinner to keep it light hearted, but overall these questions were really fun and we got to know our new family members in a fun way!

It's fun book for a party or any group to get fun conversations going. A lot of interesting questions to ask people or answer yourself. I got this book as a gift from a friend after we had so much fun with it at her party. I ended up buying a copy for a mastermind group that I'm in. I know they'll have a fun / interesting time answering some of these questions as a group.

This is part of a set of several similar books, all of which are equally a great addition to one's coffee table. But you don't have to take my word for it...

This little book contains the kinds of questions people ask each other as icebreakers at parties. There are some interesting ones, but there is a great deal of variation around a few topics. "What famous people would you invite to dinner?" and "Who would you like to have sex with?" are recurring themes. The "if there could only be one" template also seems overused.Here are a few of the more interesting questions:- If you had to eliminate a single type of animal forevermore, which would you choose?- If you were to drown in a liquid other than water, what would you want it to be?- If you had to be homeless for one year, where would you want to be?- If you could "uninvent" one thing in the world so that it would no longer exist, what would you choose?- If you could "unknow" one thing you know, what would it be?- If you could be invisible for one hour, where would you go and what would you do?- If you were to perform in the circus, what would you do?- If you could add one sentence to the U.S. Constitution, what would it say?- If you could recover one thing you've lost in your lifetime, what would you wish to find?- If you were asked what to put in a new breakfast cereal box as a gimmick, what would you pick?- If you could arrange for any two singers to record a duet together, which two would you pick, and what song would you have them sing?Maybe a good way to use this book is to check it out of the library, hunt through it for the short list of questions that work for you, and return it. Just a thought. There are several additional books in this series with questions. Perhaps the authors have followed a different strategy in these volumes that produces greater thematic variety.

I got this book to bring a vacation in hopes that it would get my parents and other older family members to discuss something other than politics and other sad things. It worked well. Highly recommend.
