ALTRA M TIMP 4 Dark Gray

Loved these and I have worn them to distraction. I prefer barefoot generally but running on loose trails I want something with just a little more sole but with zero drop and a wide toe box. Although these fit quite closely they are super comfortable and great in wet conditions. They don't stop moisture as the have mesh and therefor they get wet through but then dry easily meaning you don't get sore. I am now on my second pair. Simply the best trail running shoe and generally running shoe ever

Found the shoe very comfortable around the toe box, just using the Timp 4s for walking as I'm not a runner anymore. They were basically half price so will be my first trail runner for my old feet!

I've run across some very boggy fields in these and never felt my footing slip. The size is my normal (size 8). They wash up fine (cool wash) and look good as new after being completely muddy. Would buy again.

Terrible shoe. Support is rubbish especially if you have Planter Faciitis. There's also zero grip when the ground is slightly wet and walking becomes very dangerous. Avoid at all costs.

This is my third pair of Altra Timps, I started with the first iteration and have just ticked over 800km with my second pair (Timp 1.5's) so have updated to the new 4's to bring into my shoe cycle. I saw that they fit big so bought half a size down (UK 10) but on trying them on I think they're a pretty similar fit to the 1 and 1.5's I've had previously so will return and re-buy in 10.5 as per my others. Beyond the sizing being comparable to before I don't think they're much narrower contrary to what others have said, and quality seems pretty similar too. The sole is thicker and a tiny bit softer but I would say that the lugs aren't as deep as the older versions which probably rules it out of any really muddy or soft terrain. Beyond those points I like them, the design is good and in the correct size I don't see any reason why these won't be a good replacement.

So I have been wearing only ALTRA for almost 10 years now. I’ve owned almost every type, including their dress shoe, which I miss very much and wish they still made it. Anyway, this is about the TIMP. This shoe is outstanding and to me. It is much more comfortable than the Olympus and the lone Peak. I know it’s supposed to be the shoe in between, but I believe this is the superior shoe in my opinion. I wasn’t sure about the tongue when I first got it because it’s an odd shape and I figured that the low socks that I wear it would bother it, but it doesn’t rub my ankle or leg at all. It feels like there is extra cushioning in the shoe which is nice for comfort in long walks. To be perfectly honest after my last pair of shoes that I bought from ALTRA I was almost done with them. The Torins I bought fellas parts so fast. That I was sure they were my last pair. But I needed another pair and I decided I love this brand so much that I was going to give them another shot. And besides, I have yet to find another shoe that fits me as good as the. ALTRA do. I cannot heap enough. Praise on how much I like this shoe and the size fit just as expected. These are the main thing I wear now walking or just going out in public. I have a pair of Escalante’s that I really like as well and I believe they are starting to get a little bit jealous because they don’t get worn as much. I am not a podiatrist I am just a blind guy who likes to walk with my elderly mother and do a 5K every day at least. I want to tell you I wore art supports most of my life because of my super flat feet and since I have been wearing. ALTRA I have not worn and arch support sense. I hope this review help you in your search for a new shoe and if this is your first time with this brand, I hope you enjoy it. Happy trails.

I have large feet and these shoes offer plenty of room for the toes. They are super comfy!

This is my third pair of Altra shoes, the most expensive model I've bought. The other two cheaper pairs have been fine. The picture shows a defect that came only from wear. That is disappointing enough. FAR more disappointing is their customer service and willingness to resolve such an issue. Frankly, I do not have time to invest in vendors who make things difficult. I am much more accustomed to the "Nordstrom model" of service when it comes to premium products. Sadly, I will probably have to buy more from them. I wish I could say I will never again buy their shoes, but they fit my very wide feet better than anything else. This review is to say the shoes are usually good, but warn of potential defective design/materials and the abysmal customer service they offer. I may buy more, but I will expect very little from the company should the next ones fail like these.
