Kenmore DS1020 16V Cordless Stick Vacuum Lightweight 2-in-1 Handheld

This stick vacuum is great. Very easy to use, lightweight, maneuverable and does the job. The best thing is it stays charged for a long time. I had a Dyson stick vacuum before and this is hands down superior. The head is very low so it easily gets under furniture. I’ve only had it two weeks so I don’t know how long it will last but it’s solidly made so I’m confident it will hold up over time. If you are looking for a stick vacuum this is the one to buy.

It's exactly what I had hoped for. Lightweight, dirt cup at the bottom so it's not top heavy like most. I hate those! The bottom flattens out so it goes under bed and places, has swivel and a light. My last one sounded like a jet plane, eventually. (I'm in a Condo]. This one not very loud at all. It picked up everything. The extra filters very cheap, 5 for $13.00. I ordered these at the same time even tho you can wash the one in it. If I was not in Las Vegas it would take awhile to dry. I've only recently gotten this one but so far all boxes checked and the grey/blue one is very pretty. So far it is excellent.

After spending 4+ hours online looking for a very lightweight but well-reviewed vacuum when my Shark bit the dust, (literally and figuratively,) I purchased this Kenmore vacuum. I had HIGH hopes for it. Cordless, which is great since I have a 3 story house and have to lug it up and down stairs, changing the plugs to nearest the stairs. I put it together almost instantly (loud clicks as it went into place) -- and put it on the charging stand for 5 hours. The light blinked as it should when charging, and then stopped when it was finished. I removed it from the charging stand, turned it on and NOTHING. NOTHING. NOTHING. It did not work, period. Then I decided to unsnap the liftaway part of the vacuum, turned it on and it blazed into action. Very loud and powerful. But as soon as I clicked it back onto the larger vacuum, it did not work. DEAD. I spent almost 45 minutes on the phone with Kenmore (after waiting on hold for 22 minutes) -- they had no solution. Could not send a new charging base (would take weeks), and said, "Send it back to Amazon." HA HA. Did you ever try to get the many parts of any machine back in the original packaging (all the little dents/holes/compartments in the packing material where all the "things" go?) I spent an hour trying to get all parts reassembled in the original packing material (and I am good with jig saw puzzles, but I failed at this). Oh -- and I forgot to also say it took me 30 minutes with a screwdriver trying to push down the round "release button" so I could get the top part of the vacuum handle detached from the body. It would not release. I now have to get a new manicure as my nails were destroyed in the attempt. I finally had to stand on the handle with a screwdriver pushed into the "release" button and do the splits to get the part to detach. I was covered in sweat by this time. Finally I got it all smashed into the original box without all the packing material, held the box together with my chest (husband out of town) -- and taped it over and over again so as to take it to Kohl's for Amazon return. --- On the way to Kohl's, it started to buzz LOUDLY inside the box. Yes, the top part of the "breakaway" vacuum had happily turned on from the on/off switch inside the box somehow. That was the part that had charged completely. I had to return to the house to unpack it all, take off the 30 feet or more of packing tape I had used to secure the box, and then build a little cardboard cup to put over the on/off so it would not somehow turn on again in the box. Spent another 15 minutes trying to close the box with my body and both arms and hands, and then took it in for exchange. All in all, it was a total waste of my entire day. The only good part -- I probably lost about 1000 calories in the attempt. For less than $100, you would think Kenmore could send another vacuum, but no, even telling them I was 76 years old and was not able to easily re-pack it, they were not helpful, I am sorry to say. No compassion whatsoever. I should have read the one star reviews before I wrote this one. Someone mentioned they CALLED Amazon to explain they could not detach the top part of the handle, and thus could not fit it into the original box for a return (it was also defective). And Amazon just sent them a new one without their having to send the defective vacuum back. But on the other hand, I have NO desire to own this vacuum anymore as it seems to have serious problems charging after the first few months. AVOID this product!! I just bought a Eureka (with cord) for $80 at WalMart and it is FABULOUS!

This won’t replace your regular vacuum, but it’s great for upkeep. Super lightweight and has decent enough suction and maneuverability to get things looking clean. Only removing one star bc the detachable hand vac sucks (in a bad way) and barely does a thing. I don’t understand that since the vacuum itself is great and the charge lasts way longer than I expected it to. I can do our upstairs, stairway and a good portion of our large main floor before it needs recharging. We have cats, dogs and pet birds, and this really helps with the associated mess on our wood floors and small area rugs.

I have been using this little vacuum since Jan., 2025. I’ve also tried more than a few ‘stick vacuums & robot types’ so this is not my first. But it is the first to be all that it claims. Light weight, easy to empty, easy to wash out the filter, great on my wood & tile floors. Just not for thick or shaggy type rugs. I use it on my wool low pile & small area rugs instead of shaking them out. I’ve become lazy since this Kenmore does the work! It sits on the charger easily and comes apart to use the canister as a little vac for my furniture, lamp shades, shelves, and so many other things! I could go on. I absolutely love this Kenmore stick vac.

I love how lightweight and easy this vacuum is to use. I have two cats, so I’m constantly dealing with pet hair. I’ve spent so much money on robot vacuums that always ended up breaking. This one is perfect for quick everyday cleaning, has great suction, and works really well on both hard floors and rugs. The cordless design makes everything so much easier. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I waited a year to leave this review for the sake of being thorough and accurate. I bought this vacuum for my RV trailer and it is perfect! The suction is powerful enough. The compact size is perfect for small spaces. The battery lasts long. The attachments are super useful. The design is sleek, modern and aesthetic. One of my best buys on Amazon. Definitely recommend it.

Update after 1 year: I did love this vacuum and it worked great for a long time. But now it doesn’t really pick anything up. The brush is all frayed too. The tube channel constantly gets clogged before anything gets to the canister and this is used for solely pet hair on hardwood. The other con is that the battery doesn’t last long and it takes probably about 4-6 hours for a full charge. I wanted to love it but sadly it hasn’t lasted. I have a shark robot vacuum that takes care of my first floor. I have a corded Dyson for the upstairs that works very well it’s just bulky and annoying to use with the cord. After using this vacuum, I am a believer that all vacuums should be cordless and I’m sure one day they will be. Seriously, vacuuming is much less of a task when you can walk anywhere you want with it. This thing is light, feels well made, and is very maneuverable. The little charging stand it comes with is light and could be sturdier but it does its job well enough so no complaint there. Just being able to pick this little guy up and vacuum my stairs, and bedrooms at will is awesome. No unplugging any cables or keeping the cable from clogging the machine. So far it’s done an okay job with cat litter and it’s picking up pet hair wonderfully (we have one dog who constantly sheds and one cat). Also being able to use this as a hand vacuum for couches or hard to reach places is great. This thing is awesome and it’s a great value as well I would definitely recommend this style of compact cordless vacuum over the stick vacuums we are seeing now. Lots of those vacuums have way too much “tech” built in to them in my opinion. Thats just another way for a gadget or appliance to fail. This thing is simple. You turn it on and it works. No bogus “dust sensing” technology. Spare me. A vacuum needs to do one thing, suck. This thing sucks, in the best way.

Not only do I love this vacuum, I learned how to spell vacuum for the 900th time and will shortly forget this information again. Firstly, it is gorgeous! I got the blue and white one. It stands up with some help and takes up very little room. I charge it overnight so I'm not sure how long it takes, but I'm happy with it overnight charging. I wish it had a percentage screen to indicate charge time, but life is like unfair like that sometimes. Secondly, it works super well! I can do a whole round of our hardwood floors and the charge hasn't run out on me yet. It's not very loud so you can really hear me screaming into the void over it. Finally, I loveeeee that the dust buster part just pops right out! Obviously I need more excitement in my life but this makes me so so happy. And it really does bust the dust! I used it on carpet stairs and they looked better than they ever have! Overall, this vacuum doesn't suck at all. Oh wait, it totally does. But in the good way. You know what I'm getting at. It's pretty, easy to clean, and make life worth living for over 20 minutes at a time!

Unbelievably useful! I'd bought a different vacuum which was stupidly designed in the end (and wasn't powerful anyway); the switch placed in the stupidest spot ever - on the handle itself so that whenever you used the machine you accidentally turned the switch off - broke on approx. the 3rd use. To be fair, the Seller immediately refunded the cost of the vacuum in full without even wanting the broken item to be returned. This enabled me to purchase the KENMORE and they have lived up to their brand name for sure! It's powerful, super easy to assemble and disassemble and the switch is no where near where you could turn it off/on accidentally. Plus (for once!) you get a very clear and detailed MANUAL (see pics). It also has a very useful light on the floor attachment and it is not loud at all. I'm very, very pleased with this purchase and you will be too. The charge lasts more than long enough to do my 900sq.ft home (the vacuum came almost fully charged to boot as I placed it to charge before 1st use as recommended and it was full in approx. 1/2 hour). Well done to KENMORE! I can definitely highly recommend this product.

Enjoy this vacuum. It seems to have a good amount of suction, however with that being said the smallest of grit does not get sucked up. The movement of this unit is good but I wish it could suck up little pices of stone the size of cat litter. We don't have cats but used the litter outside on the ice. Some pieces came into the house on the bottom of boots. Literally one little piece here and there on the floor or carpet in the entrance would not get sucked into the vacuum which for me is a disappointment. I have to pick them up with my hands. The light is great on this vacuum. Charging is no issue either. Overall happy but gave it 4 stars for the super small granular issue.
