Great for fly fishing, but seem to not stay up.
I have two pairs of these. I use them for fly fishing. My older eyes need glasses, and while I have prescription fishing glasses, that doesnt help when its time to tie on a fly. I have tried keeping these on the brim of my hat, but they tend to fall down some, so I just keep them in my waders and put them on the bill when its time to tie.

Just Hold The Clip
I picked up this clip on magnifier since I was tired of fumbling around tying fly fishing knots. It works great and I'm happy with the quality. Some other reviews mentioned the hat clip was loose and it is on mine too. But it's snug enough that I don't worry about it falling off my hat brim. The simple solution is to just hold on to the clip when you want to drop the magnifier down. It's really no big deal.

The installation video is misleading
The 2.25x is extremely strong, works, but not my first choice. The 1.75x might be for folks under 40yrs who need less magnification. The 2.00x would work for most people. The operations video is well produced but totally does not work for me. Improvisation forces me to adjust the lens so it folds flat on the bill of the cap, when you need to use the lens flip it down 90 degees. Then pull the bill of the cap down so the lens aligns with your eyes or eye glasses. I've tried different methods of installation, none work very well The guy in the video is a freak if can get it to work his way. I also own the more expensive Hat Eyes with the metal frame and they work much better on the hat. This Carson product is made entirely of plastic so don't expect it to last forever but cheap to replace. The included carrying case is great, protects the lens from breakage and scratches. These work well and deserve the 5 star rating if you can get pass the set up.

Not robust enough
The clip to the visor doesnโt stay in place well, and is a bit flimsy. Mine broke after a few months. Go to a fly fishing retailer like Orvis or LLBean and get the sturdy ones

Fantastic value!
These magnifiers are great. I bought 2 pair of the 5x. Great for tying midges to 6x leader, and for any close up work. Absolutely no reason to buy the expensive ones. Love the lens case too. At less than $7 a pair, you can buy several. I bought another pair today for my son.

Fragile & Droopy
I have bought two of these. Both suffered the same fate. First, the hinges get loose so the lenses droop down when you are fishing. Need to keep tightening the screw. Second, if you drop them on a hard surface from as little as four feet expect the lenses to snap in two. The plastic bridge between the lenses is way too thin and brittle. Both pairs broke. The optics are just fine but these magnifiers are not durable. Many users say the same thing.

Game changer
These were a game changer for my fly fishing experiences. Now Iโm able to get the fishing string through the eye hole in no time rather than waste time cross eyed standing in the river.

Perfect for close quarters
I bought these clip on magnifiers, for my fishing cap, as I was having difficulty with my eyesight when tying up casts or tying on new flies, as Iโm no spring chicken (67) but love my fly fishing! They have been an absolute boon, I can even flick them down over my sunglasses, a rare event in Scotland, and they work equally well! Highly recommended for those anglers of a certain ages, or whose eyesight was not what it once was. They are also an excellent visual aid for tying flies, as long as you tie your flies wearing a cap ๐. Highly recommended!
