A New Tradition
I bought this for one of my grandsons who is 9. He is very good at building and had a great time each morning during December opening one box a day. I think they were somewhat easy to put together for the daily’s but a bit more challenging to put together for the larger robots. I would recommend for any child who loves to build and having it for advent is going to be a new tradition for us.

Great Calendar!
I actually got this for my teen son and he enjoyed building each day and looked forward to when he could combine the builds to make the bigger model. The pieces went together well and the directions were clear.

Exciting and ambitious set for older kids
I am deeply impressed with the creativity and engineering that went into this set! Each of the vehicles has a fun and interesting design (often with moving parts) AND can be rebuilt into an alternate design using the same bricks. And then the combined robot designs are beyond cool. The kit comes with 24 boxes with Christmas patterns, two large instruction manuals (for yellow and black sets), and an included brick separator tool (a nice bonus!)I got these for my four-year-old son, he is very excited for them. He's below the intended age but we'll build them together. One warning I would give with younger children is this kit takes a lot of discipline and organization. It's way too easy for a young child to play with the daily builds and then lose some of the pieces. I'm not certain we'll make it to the giant robots with all pieces intact. But even with just the small vehicles, he will be very happy! The main drawback in this set is that the manuals are complex and lack user-friendly guidance. Each page represents one box, with two separate vehicle designs per box, so that's about 12+ steps per page. It's much denser than the manuals we are used to, and the diagrams are small. It would benefit from more headings and written instructions to walk you through. For example, it could say "Box 1" clearly at the top, instead, you look at the model number in the lower right corner to match it with the model number on the bag. Perhaps this allows for some product variation in which vehicle ends up in which box. It's not as intuitive as it could be, but after doing the first box, you do learn to navigate it.One thing I do like about the manuals is they keep all the instructions bound together. A different set I tried has small separate instruction sheets in each of the 24 boxes. These booklet manuals will be much more lasting.Overall I would recommend this for older kids with some motivation and discipline to keep the builds and parts carefully organized. It's a very ambitious and creative set, almost at the risk of being a bit impractical. But if your child has proven themselves on other 500+ piece builds, this could be a great option.

BIG HIT
My 9 year old LOVED this advent calendar - he loved building every day and having the ability to create larger figures when combining the days. Brilliant. Stacking the cute Christmas cubes from each day was also a bonus - hoping another one comes out next year that is a little different.

Missing pieces
My 10 year old is struggling. Missing pieces and fine print instructions.

Pleasantly surprised!
Wasn't sure what to expect with this one but everyone wasn't pleasantly surprised. It's decent quality and the concept of having the option for small builds or one big build is great. My 6 year old loves it and is excited everyday to open the next one. Very good for off-brand builder blocks!

Shockingly great
I was hesitant to buy this off brand advent calendar. We usually get the "lego" one. This advent calendar is amazing and a great value. It has a really good build (with optional builds and accessory stickers) every single day.So fun.
