Easy to use with a visual and audio warning. Worked straight away for me and pinpointed leak. Picked up the leak in the room on high sensitivity, then switched to low sensitivity to pinpoint leak. Brilliant for the price i paid.

Pretty good tool, for suspect situations or reassurance after major work.
This is not a professional gas engineers tool, it lack the sensitivity (its only 50ppm) to help find subtle leaks in appliances for example. Maintaining calibration and traceability to cover yourself would be difficult too.It is however a helpful tool to confirm a significant leak, if working in a poorly maintained premises and you have concerns about some installations, or if major works are carried out, or perhaps there has been uncontrolled demolition that may have damaged gas supplies.A pro doing fault finding is going to want something that goes down to 10ppm but they costs 3 to 5 times more than this tool. Its sensitivity is good enough for finding a puncture or split leak and its easy to use. The gooseneck probe is long for getting under boards etc, but the head is rather large, it does include an LED light to help you see where your probing, it would be better if it were slimmer like the pro products.It comes in a carry case and with a set of batteries and even a driver to open the battery box, the case is compact so requires rather a lot of bending of the gooseneck to get it in, I hope the cable inside is durable. I don't think many people would expect to use this very regularly but it might be blessing to have in the van if you think your getting the whiff of gas and need to check and act quick.As such £40 isn't a big ask, my limited tests show it responds pretty quickly and emphatically so I don't doubt its a proper tool despite the relatively low price.

Power button is broken so I really can't tell if it's actually working.Loose elements inside of detector.
