Definitely a good buy
Arrived just in time for the coldest week of the year. Very warm even without a sweater underneath. Temperatures got down to 16 with a bit of wind, and I could not feel it. The material is very thick and keeps the wind completely out. Fits very well (size 2XLT) Tons of pockets that are easy to get to with gloves on. I don't know if this would be good for the arctic areas, but for where I am in Texas with maybe 2 weeks of real cold per year this coat is well worth the price.

Simply fantastic
This coat, parka, jacket.... whatever you want to call it is fantastic. For this review, I will be calling it a coat. For the upcoming winter season I needed a new coat. My last one did great until it fell apart from over usage in many Midwestern winters. My the stupid thing rest in pieces. So, Rather than going on to wal-mart or (insert name of store here), and deal with people, lines, my habit of compulsive buying (one day i went out for soda, came back with a laptop and a new dog. Forgot the soda. True story.) I figured i would purchase online from Amazon. After hunting around the website for a good bit, i found this, and purchased it. (as well as a dog collar and some DVD-R's that I probably really didn't need). When i got it, i was impressed.Oh my the pockets! So many! Not to mention it looks great... seriously. People at work won't shut there pie holes on how great the coat looks. It's very warm. Seriously. For as thin as it is, It has kept me warm so far this fall season in tropical Michigan.Word of caution to potential buyers of this coat: People may think you work for Caterpillar. Had a gentleman approach me and tell me that he use to service caterpillar equipment and shook my hand. I thought at first he was just reminiscing about his days of working for the company. Then he asked me if "Dave" still worked there. I said, "wait, who?" That's when it dawned on this gentleman that i was in fact just an imposter, poser if you will. He walked away confused and i think he muttered something under his breath about how i wasted 12 seconds of his life or something. Poor guy.At any rate, don't waste any more of your time with my review. Buy this! I promise you will not regret it.Pro's:Pockets - lots of them!Reflectors on front and back so you don't get run over or something.WarmHoodiestylishCons:None ... go buy the thing already. gesh.UPDATE: Two winters of use -This was my coat for 2013/14 Winter (one of the worse on record for my area) AND for the 2014/15 winter. It's still ticking along as if it's new. Unlike my dog. It likes to use my floor at times as its designated bio disposal location. I have asked him to stop, even offered the four legged thing money to stop. He just sniffs me and farts.Right, back with the coat review: It still looks new, as if I just bought it yesterday. It has not disapointed me. Unlike my laptop, that died a horible tragic death after if fell off my balcony and bounced on the concrete below bounced like 3 times and then landed in the yard, right on top of a rare pile of my dogs magical bio waste. The one time the thing decided to use the outside as it's bathroom destination, my laptop finds it. Fantastic.Summary: Laptop dead, Dog is confused on where it should go. Coat, awesome. Buy the coat.UPDATE: Thanksgiving 2016: The dog says hi. I think. I don't speak Dog. But he just barked when i started to type.Ok, so I bought this coat three years ago. It is still in tip top shape. Still like new, still awesome. I named it Gary. Gary the awesome coat. Don't judge. You probably had an imaginary friend when you were younger. Well my imaginary friend is my coat, Gary.If you are still on the fence about buying this, i have a few words for you. First, get off the fence. That is just awkward. Unless you need to be on it for the free wifi signal you are getting from your neighbor or something. This coat has paid for itself over the many years i have owned it. I can't stress to you enough to just buy it.The fit is good, easy to clean and looks pretty good. Stay warm my fellow internet shoppers!LAST UPDATE! (7/17/2018)It's July of 2018. My coat is sleeping comfortably in the closet waiting for winter to spring upon us once again. While it still has some time to slumber before it is awaken, I am comforted to know that it still is in fact the best coat that has ever been created by mankind. That's right, i went there. I have not had to buy a new one for five years now. Half a decade. I'm pretty sure I can call the coat a good purchase now.Dog is good. Farts a lot. He has faults but i love him.Coat? No. It doesn't fart. It's not alive.Still in perfect condition after five years. So, after half a decade of reviewing the coat, if you still are not unsure, then i would just recommend moving to Arizona. I don't think you have to deal with coats then. This will be my last update of this coat. I am now retiring from this review. I wish you the warmest of winters and a happy and healthy life my fellow amazon shopper!

Love, love, LOVE!!!!
OMG! This thing has so many pockets! I owned a green version of this same coat in previous years, and it never wore out. No issues with zippers breaking, tears, or anything else. The old coat is still perfect. After losing 130 pounds, I needed to find something that fit better and made me look less like David Byrne in every music video he did in the 80's.I downsized from a 4X to an XL. It fits like a glove and is warm. I still have room to wear a fleece hoodie underneath it for added warmth in the Minnesota winters. The oversized coat allowed for too much wind circulation beneath the jacket. The properly sized one does not have this issue. That is not the fault of the coat. That is all on the purchaser. Make sure you buy the right size. There are like 14 pockets in this thing! My biggest problem with that is trying to remember which of the pockets I put which belongings in. That is not a complaint. I love being able to have pockets to carry everything around. I just have to improve my recall to remember what went where. The hood is fully removable with a zipper. This is a personal favorite of mine because most winter jackets (including this one) makes a terrible racket when donning the hood. Hearing aides pick up the sound even more. I only use the hood on extremely cold days, and rely on a double-knitted beanie and scarf most of the time. (Did you know that -40 celcius is the same as -40 fahrenheit? I learned that firsthand by living in Minnesota.)The reflective stripe is a nice addition for walking the dog. Since it is dark when I arrive at work and dark before I leave work, the reflective stripe is a nice addition to remain visible without looking like a construction worker.Buy this coat. You will not be disappointed.

Double Zipper Use
My son needed a new jacket and selected this one to be his winter coat, and so far I'm really liking it. He is very small so I was afraid that a small was going to be too big, however it fits very well with some room to spare inside for bulky clothing like sweatshirts or sweaters. Because he's thin, it's hard for him to keep warm so I had my reservations due to the jacket looking so thin. He said it's warmer than any of his other jackets and all he had on underneath was a t-shirt. That's a big deal for him.My biggest complaint has to be about the threading. I am unsure as to where/how the jackets are sewn together and why the loose thread ends are EVERYWHERE. I am currently fixing all of these threads and so far I'm at 25 fixes and I've only covered the front right panel (about 1/6) of the jacket. Besides that, every thing else is great. The fabric, durability, pockets, lining, fit, cold/wind/rain protection are all great, it's just the stitching is sloppy and unsecured. One last thing to mention is the double zipper heads. The top one is the primary one that you use like a regular zipper. The bottom zipper is used to unzip the jacket when you need to get something out of your pants pocket or around your waist area (like an item that you would clip onto your belt) without exposing your upper body and risk losing all your body heat in the process. The zipper only has to be opened a few inches to accomplish this. I have a hunting coat that has this feature and I love it, especially on 20 degree mornings in the mountains.
