The Essence of Erickson
I've come late to Jeff Zeig's volumes, choosing to read Erickson's papers and work by other authors including the NLP crowd, and I regret it. This volume collects the papers presented at the 5th International Erickson Congress. Some of Erickson's first students take us back to the core of Milton's work, his humanity and integrity (Kay Thompson and Robert Pearson). Steve de Shazer gives a clear insight into his close study of Erickson's cases and how this influenced his work in developing Solution Focussed Brief Therapy. There's good humour encouraging students to avoid making Milton into a saint or guru and plenty of robust discussion about types of hypnotherapy and the role of hypnosis in memories of abuse. This is one of my favourite books with great writers showing new sides to Milton Erickson and giving us a clear view of each author's gift. This isn't for you if you're a casual reader, but psychotherapists and people helpers will find much to assist and inspire here.

very interesting book about Milton Erickson
This is a very interesting book about the work of Milton Erickson. Great therapists like Jeffrey Zeig analyze deeply how Erickson worked in terms of attitudes and techniques.I don't understand the other review. Clearly, this book deserves 5 stars.

Interesting
Good background reading for a course. Interesting but not the "meat" of his ideas I had hoped for. There are better books describing the actual methods.
