It’s a personal experience that is worth trying.
I was recommended this cup from a colleague who gave top marks for it. She said she would never go back to sanitary pads or tampons again. When it arrived I was very skeptical and rightly so as I have two days of very heavy flow. I did find it weird at first-catching your cycle in a cup and emptying it. However I persevered. I found insertion a little awkward and uncomfortable when removing at first, as you have to make sure that the cups creates a suction which on the first attempted never happened, they do give instructions and tips on how to combat this (I won’t go into that) however i was unsuccessful with it at the time. I decided to use a pad as well for reassurance. About five mins later I checked and the cup had formed a suction all on its own, so I was like ok? I was so worried about leaking, I was checking and emptying every hour or so. But to my surprised no leakage. (About a quarter filled approx) I called my colleague the next day and said it seemed to be fine but I’m emptying this ‘thing’ as much as I would change my pads. She said to just leave it a few hours before checking, which I did, (now on day two) and found that there was leakage after 2 and half hour, max three. When emptying it wasn’t exactly full but over half which baffled me. I then done some research (google lol) and found that it could leak if, one the cup didn’t have a correct seal or two, the air holes get block, which would obviously build pressure causing your cycle to leak. The suction wasn’t the problem, so it left the issue with the air holes. So (sorry for the long review), I decided every 2 hours I would empty as my flow is very heavy. On the third day I was getting use to it and didn’t empty until 4 hours later as my flow gets lighter on the third day. I was used to the insertion, didn’t really bother with the instructions they gave. Just inserted ( Worked my pelvic floor muscles a few times and hey presto lol) I would say I will still need time to really get used to it as it is a massive change from the what you have be taught to use as a teenager but I think I can say it is a good product and worth trying. The only thing I would say is if you have a heavy flow like myself. You might Or might want to consider using your usual methods for dealing with your cycle because to be honest I think the first two days of emptying are not much different to changing your pad/tampon (for me that is) however I’m undecided for my next cycle lol (very confused female here). However the beauty of this product Is the fact that it is very hygiene friendly. Without sounding crude it’s a massive improvement on cleanliness due to your menstual cycle getting a little messy. It’s almost, like Your flow is encapsulated, if you understand what I mean. Anyway I would recommend it, I’m sure it won’t be to everyone’s liking but it’s worth a shot.

Great Menstrual Cup
I’m glad I purchased this. I did try one a few years back but gave up with it as I was a bit squeamish about inserting it/taking it out and thought it was a bit arduous but I’m glad I bought this & gave it another go and I much prefer this one. I love that this is organic and I feel like I’m doing something good for my body when I’m using it, no more irritation down there or smell. I sometimes can’t believe I even used tampons and pads for so long. I also love the little bag it comes in, it’s really handy - it’s all natural too. The packaging it comes in is very eco friendly too and contains all the info you need to use it and some about the company. The cup itself seems very sturdy and durable without being uncomfortable to use. If you’re new to menstrual cups and are undecided I’ll put a bit more detail that may help you. Putting this in will take some getting used to but I found after the third time of doing it I had it down, it will take some practice if you’re used to pads and/or tampons. The practicality and benefit to your vaginal health far outweigh any negatives of using this cup. I just do the C fold squeeze as I find it the easiest, it just comes naturally.. then I insert it at an angle, you will sort of naturally know which way to insert it for your body. The key is to relax, easier said than done but try to take a few deep breaths and relax your muscles. Once the angled side of the folded lip of the cup is in the rest will naturally follow and you can just gently push it in and you will feel it has opened up and is in place, sometimes you’ll hear a kind of suction, other times not. You’ll get to know when it’s in properly but if you’re unsure and want to check, just feel for the base and you’ll feel you can sort of squeeze it and feel the roundness of it and that it has opened up. The first time using it you may doubt that you’ve put it in correctly but it just opens up and settles naturally, don’t overthink it too much. If you’re having any trouble inserting it, I recommend using some Coconut oil on it (I use the Lucy Bee Extra Virgin Organic Raw brand) I find Coconut oil good to use as a moisturiser down there and it can be used as lube so as long as you’re not sensitive/allergic to it, I highly recommend it. Be careful though as it can make the cup super slippy and prone to flying out of your fingers. (I found this out the hard way 🤦♀️😭). Once it is in, you don’t have to worry all day & you don’t get that yucky feeling after a while like you do with tampons and especially pads. You can leave it in for considerably longer (12 hours!!) as well so you can just go about your day, it’s great. You’ll need to set aside a couple more minutes in the morning or whenever you’re putting it in than your would with a pad or tampon, but it gets easier & quicker each time you do it & the more you get used to it. Once it’s in, no more having to go to the toilet and change anything and I have only had a problem with leakage once when I had a really heavy flow day. How often you’ll need to change this will depend on your flow. But for me most of the time I keep it in for the full 12 hours which is so helpful especially if you have a busy day or are feeling like having a lazy day. I have noticed if I go for a wee & wipe I do see a slight bit of blood on the tissue but it’s no amount that is of any concern. In fact, if it wasn’t for cramps I could totally forget I was even on my period with this. I’ve also been swimming with this in numerous times with no issues, in fact it’s a god send for swimming/sauna/gym etc. Also there’s no issues with this when passing stools. You will feel a bit of pressure but imo this is much more preferable to blood gushing everywhere as you’re going and creating more of a mess to clean. Taking it out will also take some getting used to, you have to get the hang of it but there is a knack to it. I didn’t trim the stem & I’m glad I didn’t as I find it sits quite high up inside me so I would recommend trying it out before you decide to snip it. I locate the stem with my fingers and gently pull on it until I can feel the base of the cup. Sometimes I use both hands; one to pull the stem then one to squeeze the base so I can pull it out as your body will naturally keep it pretty suctioned in there. It can help to use your vaginal muscles to push it out, this makes it so much easier to get to & remove. Do this gently to avoid spills, it will take a few times to get used to the sensation of the lip part being pulled out as it is obviously considerably bigger than a tampon but once you get used to this it’s fine. Again I kind of pull this out gently at an angle and wiggle it out slowly. I find once I’ve pulled on the stem and I can feel the base nearer to the opening of my vagina I squeeze it gently and pull it out while squeezing as that way you can pull it out so the lip part is sort of folded like how it is when you insert it. If you just pull it straight out it’s going to be uncomfortable as it’s completely open and doing it this way will also control it so it doesn’t spill. Blood will get on your hands and spill over a little if it’s a particularly heavy flow day but after using this for a few cycles you’ll get to know what works for you and what to expect when you’re removing it. It will become like second nature, like riding a bike or driving a car. Once it’s out I recommend carrying some baby wipes and/or a bottle of water to rinse it if you’re out and about. Or even one of those portable bidets would be good. There is obviously a bit more prep that goes into using this, for example making sure your hands are really clean as they’re going inside you which obviously doesn’t happen with most tampons and pads & the taking out and rinsing part can get a little bit messy and may make some people who are squeamish a bit uncomfortable but you’ll get over that. And I promise the benefits will outweigh this. You can go all day without the annoying task of changing and disposing of pads and tampons, you’re reducing waste and doing something great for your health and peace of mind. All in all I’m so happy I bought this, it has made my period so much less of a hassle and I highly recommend it. Hope this helped 💖

Wish I had tried this sooner!
Wow I wish I had gotten over myself & been brave enough to try this sooner, I LOVE IT!!! I was sooo sick of using pads they were driving me up the wall so uncomfortable, so I began searching for an alternative. I had heard of menstrual cups before but the idea really didn't appeal, I have used tampons previously but hated them however I was so fed up of pads I decided to give it a try. I purchased size B as I am over 30 & have had two children. Its amazing, honestly fabulous! I was expecting to have perhaps a few issues using it for the first time, I was expecting that I might have a couple of leaks until I learnt how to insert it properly or that it might be a bit uncomfortable until I got used to it but no? First period I used it I used the punch down fold as I found it the easiest to insert & boom magic, no leaks nothing. I did trim the stem on mine slightly but that was the only adjustment I have ever needed to make. Taking it out is easy too bear down to lower the cup so its easy to reach, pinch the bottom bowl of the cup carefully, not the stem the bottom of the actual cup & then squeeze gently & rock the cup backwards & forwards slightly whilst gently pulling down, the seal will break you will hear it & that's it dump the contents, clean it & reinsert. When its inserted correctly it wont be uncomfortable, you wont feel it, you wont leak & you can wear it for up to 12 hours, I mean whats not to love? This cups makes periods a cinch, I used to dread my periods & having to use pads which made me sore but now with this cup, i'm like yer body bring it on! My daughter is 14 & I really want to help her to use a cup when she starts her period, I only wish someone had helped me to get over my cup fears & try one sooner! You NEED one, its fab, buy it! :)

Don't give up after your first go! Keeping calm is key!
I wanted to write a review that wasn't just based solely on it only being used once. I bought this product on the recommendation from work colleagues. Although it may seem pricey, it reaps the benefits in terms of spending money on sanitary products every month. On first application the instructions to insert are easy to follow. The first wear was great, hardly noticed I had it in and went about my day without having to change every few hours. Now....upon removal it proved more troublesome. I was panicking as I felt that it had moved upwards quite a bit. The key is to remain relaxed and, I'm not going to lie, it took me near enough an hour to remove. I looked at numerous YouTube videos which, although reitterated my fear, did not really help in terms of removing the cup. I eventually managed to remove it with the fear of using it again. Remaining calm is certainly the key and using your stomach muscles to push down so it moves to be able to gently pull on the stem. When I found myself panicking too much I left it another few hours and tried again as I felt I was getting myself in too much of a state. For me, removing it sitting on the toilet worked best for me but there are some guides in positions in the instructions that come with it. I have since used it again and I will be using it from now on. I used a different method this time. When inserting I felt, for me personally, I have not inserted it fully which may feel a bit uncomfortable but it soon moves into position itself throughout the day. I inserted just enough that the stem I could still feel near the end so that I have the comfort knowing I can pinch the base to remove with ease (in the removal instructions) but comfortable enough to wear clothes etc. Keeping it clean is also very easy. I clean it in the shower when I'm using it for the duration of my period. When finished I also boil it on the hob for a few mins so that it's sterile for my next use. It comes in a handy pouch to keep until next application. Overall I think it will get easier the more I use it and I do prefer it to sanitary products overall. Give it a go!!

Don’t hesitate
I had been considering trying a menstrual cup for years but for kept putting doing research into brands, sizes etc off. This popped up on offer on amazon and fairly spontaneously I decided to go for it. I followed the guidelines on sizing and went for the second size, even though I was a bit hesitant as even after childbirth I still have a fairly narrow vagina. I have only been using it for a day or two but so far the instructions were really easy to follow, easy to insert and completely comfortable - I don’t notice it at all. Excellent value and feel good on many levels - sustainability, supporting a smaller business,(probably) better for body and long term savings. Like a lot of people said, regret that I didn’t make the switch years ago.

Best menstruation product! Highly recommend!
Initially I was really hesitant at using one of these and put it off for a couple of years but after the very first use I took to it immediately. Within the first application I found this entirely revolutionary. I originally thought the Organicup would’ve been more invasive than a tampon due to the size but it fits your body a lot better and once it’s in you genuinely cannot feel it, even when sitting down. Also, when the cup arrived I was shocked at how small it actually is. Due to the nature of the way the cup ‘collects’ you’ll find that you feel more healthy and not dry. This is something I found so good as I found tampons incredibly drying and quite sore to have to keep applying and removing. The cup offers the security of a regular tampon but without the discomfort of wearing one. It’s incredibly easy to apply. The company offer lots of advice on their website if you’re struggling. It’s hygienic, odour- free and really easy to clean. Also because you can visually see how much blood is within the cup it gives you a very good indication of when you’re menstruation is due to end; again another pro of the cup! You can leave it in for 12 hours at a time making it absolutely perfect for bedtime or travelling! I put it in the morning then clean it out and reapply it before bed. 2 times a day and you’re sorted! Unlike a tampon or pad. Not to mention this is incredibly environmentally friendly; which was my initial motive on using this product. On a more personal note, due to the security of the OrganiCup it means that even during menstruation you can still be (somewhat, to an extent) sexually expressive (just not vaginal penetration obviously!). I 100% recommend this product! I will never go back to tampons or pads. The only downside of the cup, I believe, is that it could be awkward to apply initially, however I personally didn’t find this at all. My first application was so easy, I used the companies video on YouTube and found that very helpful! I hope you give the product a try because it took me 24 months to have the courage and now I wished I had been using this from the very start!

Brilliant product!
This product has been totally brilliant for my teenage daughter, who has only just upgraded to the next size, after almost 4 years of use. It was a big step for her to move to this kind of product, but not only has it been trustworthy and eco, but we have worked out that it has only cost around 30p per period, to use - so amazingly economical too! I would 100% recommend it. Thank you

Not for me
This is my first ever menstrual cup I have purchased and for me, I’m not a fan of it. I did find it easy to insert and take out however initially I had to trim the stem as it kept poking annoyingly and then I think I cut it a little too short which meant I struggled to take it out when it was full - user error. I did have a couple leaks with this cup in the night which disrupted my sleep having to take it out, clean it and re inset (all being quite messy) and I just don’t think the cup is right for me. The material is too thick aswell, so I have ordered from another brand so am hoping that one is better however it may just be a “me” thing and cups aren’t for me. I do like the ease of wearing a cup because you don’t have to change it regularly however if you need to change it whilst out in public you do need to ensure you go to a cubicle with a sink next to it like a family bathroom or something. I like how the cup is organic and has thousands of great reviews however I just found my period to be more stressful using this cup and I had experienced more cramping too which put me off, so for now I am wearing organic pads/tampons and I know regular ones from popular brands contain far too many chemicals and plastics in them.
