Beautiful
No words in this book, just beautiful, vivid pictures telling a magical story. An old camera is washed up at the feet of a beach combing boy. The developed film reveals weird and wonderful creatures from the ocean. The final picture shows the boy that this is a gift to be returned to the sea for other children to enjoy. My two year old loves the colour and detail of the drawings.

Bought for my daughter's school topic in Year 2
This is a lovely book full of amazing illustrations. The author tells the story through pictures only. It really captured my daughter's (who is six) imagination and she did some lovely writing and artwork for school.

Great book for using your imagination
This is a story with no words so needs the child to tell the story from the pictures. They need to infer and guess what is happening. Amazing colourful pictures, so much detail. Needs a bit of explanation depending on child as it’s about an old camera that needs the film to be taken to be processed at a shop! Great for all ages as it can be “read” at different levels. I used it with children aged 7+ and to assess some teenagers.

Captures the imagination
This book had such an impact on my 6 year old - when we first ‘read’ it together he actually cried at the ending. Two weeks after we had read it, out of nowhere he started asking more questions about the story. I think the story having no words encourages a deeper level of engagement, and both the story and the drawings are wonderfully inventive. The details of the undersea worlds are particularly magical and stimulated a lot of discussion

Beautiful images
This is a beautiful picture book. It doesn't have any words but the story is clearly told through the images. It is a good book to use to develop language with children. One thing I found hard to explain was developing photographs in today's world but we loved the book anyway.
