Streamlight 69420 TLR-7 Tactical Gun Light, Black

Not yet range tested, but on initial install, I really like this light on my H&K P2000! 5x brighter than my TLR-6 (100 Lumen), and it shows! Out of the box, the strobe feature is disabled, but the instructions show how to enable it. Once you do, you can: * Hold down the switch for TEMPORARY ON (release to turn OFF). * Quick-press/release the switch for ON/OFF. * Double-tap quick-press/release for STROBE (quick-press/release for OFF). I needed to use the "Universal 1" adapter to fit my firearm, which is what is installed out of the box. Streamlight told me that the P2000 would use the same one as the VP9 since the P2000 is not listed on their documentation or web site, but it didn't fit properly, and I ended up testing all the attachments to see which was best. The "Universal-1" fit the rail groove and put the light further back, closer to my trigger guard than any other adapter. All other adapters were too fat to fit the rail groove. Once you have the proper adapter in place, you need to clip on the lock washer to make it semi-permanent. The light barely extends past the end of my barrel (1/8"), and the controls are easy to access without having to change my (thumbs-forward) grip. The red sticker you see in one of my photos comes off. It says: Facecap Tight = RUN Unscrew To Detent = SAFE It basically means that you can twist it to engage/disengage the battery so you can avoid accidentally leaving it on. I can't wait to range test it, but I don't see any issues. Might use blue lock-tight before then, just to make sure the screw doesn't loosen up on me. Oh and also, the only tool you need to install this is a coin to tighten the screw. It comes with everything else you'll need for the install.

Pros: my hands/ at least fingers are long so hitting the pad to turn on the light is a breeze, however this can be a con for those who may be used to an APLc or have smaller hands. It is Very tiny package with a low profile so it seems to fit flush on my carry opts (sig x-carry & Glock 19). 500 Lumens with the aforementioned size is unheard of at least with lighg that is easy to find holsters for in my opinion. It also comes with adapter plates for mounting to specific rails which is a plus. The instruction manual will let you know the right adapter for you pistol. If your pistol isn’t present there is a universal option however I would advise to do some research and/or call stream light. Very well made I’ve dropped it a number of times during install. Range wise so far only 200 rds and it stays on through shots. You have a strobe option via rapidly pressing the activation button 10 times and on the 10th press hold down until the light strobes then cuts off on its own. Lastly if you’re worried about battery life you can manually turn the device off without having to remove the battery or light from the gun. Cons: installation...that little lock key piece gave me a headache (due to Human errors lol) All in All, it’s worth every penny. I would recommend to anyone.

This light is good for Glock19s or similar 4” barrel pistols, if you’re wanting a light that’s not sticking out a foot, like these ridiculous tacti-cool 100,000+ lumen spotlights some guys insist on carrying. This sits flush with the length of the barrel on my Springfield XD Mod.2, which is what I wanted: as much light as possible, while being as compact as I could get it for concealed carry. The buttons are ambidextrous, and there’s a momentary on or constant on option. At 500 lumens it spotlights really well for distances under 75-100 feet, which is farther than you’d accurately ever fire from under most circumstances, anyways. The only downside is the buttons are a bit hard to push compared to the TLR-1. This is something I anticipated since they are not sticking in towards the trigger guard like the TLR-1. With the 7, I have to extend my index finger all the way out and even then, I can barely get it with the tip of my finger without fear I’d slip and my finger would fall into the trigger guard when I wasn’t ready to fire. I will just train to use my opposing thumb to turn it off and on. Overall, a perfect light. Solidly built (housing is metal). Bright. Compact. Fastens securely and quickly. Just wish the switch mechanism was the same as the TLR-1.

Just came back here to post my thoughts after owning this light for three days. I love it. I don't love everything about it, but I do love it. It is so tiny. It basically turned my carry back into a "stock Glock" package. The Surefire X300U-A I had was an amazing light built like a tank, but it was bulky compared to this. For that, I very much enjoy having the TLR-7. The controls aren't perfect. They are doable, but not perfect. If you quickly tap the controls on either side, it turns the light on/off. However, if you press and hold the controls on either side while it is off, it stays on while you have it pressed in. When you release, it turns off. So, the difference between "on" and "momentary on" is simply how long you hold it. Perhaps with training I'll grow to love it more. After using the ten-tap programming, I enabled "strobe mode". Now, when the light is off, a quick double tap to the controls on either side activates the strobe. I like having a strobe on a weapon light; That's something I always wished the Surefire I had would provide but sadly it did not. Admittedly, I think the Surefire was probably built better. But I also paid $220 for it back in the day. I had it for about five years. It was nice. But I like the Streamlight better. The Streamlight TLR-7 is built well enough I believe. It is technically just as bright (500 lumens), even though it only has one battery instead of two. However, might I mention that the tint of the light seems a bit different? The Surefire had a much cooler (white) light. The Streamlight has a slightly warmer (yellow) light. No big deal, actually a warmer light allows you to differentiate color easier. In my opinion, unless you are a cop/military, battery life is irrelevant. Train with it when you do, place a fresh battery in it when you start to carry it. Since either of them easily get you an hour's worth of light, in my opinion that's enough since as a civilian it's likely you would only need the light for a maximum of a few moments in the worst case scenario (unless you are John McClane, of course. But then you are a cop, which I already mentioned).

This is a very well-made, high quality product. I mounted it on a Glock 19 Gen 5 and it fits like it was designed specifically for that model. The light comes with a number of interchangeable mounting inserts for various pistol frame rails, and the attachment process is mostly a breeze. I say "mostly" because the very small e-clamp that goes around the end of the install screw is a pain to seat into place. The included plastic tool is simple and mostly works well, but give yourself a clear, well-lit and preferably light-colored area to work in for when the clamp inevitably slides out of place under pressure. If it falls on the floor you're in for quite a search for that tiny disc of black metal. A spare is included, but as the saying goes "if you've got one you've got none". I assume the e-clamp is steel, as it's very rigid and doesn't deform or bend easily when you're trying to seat it. It seems to provide good positive lock when it's in place, and doesn't give the impression that it's about to spring off under tension, but alignment can be a bit tricky and tough to verify. When it's finally mounted everything is rock-solid. The light has ambidextrous on/off switches which are very convenient to reach when the trigger finger is outside the trigger guard and resting along the frame. The brightness is no joke; the battery compartment cover has a "safety" position just before it's fully tightened that disengages the battery, to prevent accidentally switching the light on during install. This is essential and I highly recommend using it; believe me, you *don't* want to activate this thing straight into your eyeball from 3 inches away! Now to the not-so-great: due to the mounting position and length of the G19 barrel, the lens ends up almost flush with the muzzle. Within a few shots it starts clouding over with gas/powder residue, and after a couple of range sessions this is pretty indelible. It's fairly easy to clean off 100 rounds in, but after 500, standard gun oil/cleaner wouldn't get it all and fingernail scraping had no effect; the lens definitely has what seems to be a permanent black smudge off to one side edge now. I have been toying with the idea of using some pretty aggressive bore solvent on it, but I haven't worked up the courage to do that yet. What I did for the time being was remove the light for the duration of my "qualifying on the pistol"/familiarization phase, with the intention of reinstalling when I've practiced enough and feel ready to put the whole package into Home Defense Readiness service. The light is bright enough that it might still have been effective if kept in place and just scrubbed after each range trip, but I wasn't crazy about the idea of compounding the problem repeatedly on a regular basis and possibly making the smudge bigger and bigger. Applying painter's tape as a makeshift cover or stuffing paper into the lens housing didn't work either, as they got shredded/blown away after a couple of shots. This could likely all be solved by just having shopped around for a longer light that extended past the muzzle blast zone; I assume on a longer-barrelled Glock this particular model could be mounted far enough back on the rail that it's not an issue. Just something to consider; in all other respects I recommend this product without any hesitation.

Others have provided ample reviews that hit the high points - Bright tactical light, solid build quality, water proof, reasonable pricing, all additional fitment parts provided (all you need is a screw driver) etc. So I'll focus more on my experiences with the product when ordered specifically for an HK P30SK, since there are very few choices for the HK P30SK. The TLR-7 is not an HK officially approved P30SK fitment, but I took a chance and ordered the TLR-7 for my HK P30SK and it fit the P30SK just fine, using the provided 1913-4 fitment “key". There was some very marginal overhang, but nothing to stand in the way of my having a nice Streamlight light on my P30SK. And where the two products did meet, they came together well - no disjointed or pieced together lines. And no unnecessary large space between the back of the light and the front of the trigger guard. And regarding having a slight over hang - even this could be a plus if your are concerned with the firearm being taken out of battery when pressed against an object, since it would place the barrel slightly back from the object, minimizing the chance of being taken out of battery. Pictures tell a thousand words, so see the two provide pics for the end result.

This was placed on my glock 19 gen 5. The good As the picture shows it sits flush to the sides and the front. So it doesn’t add any width to a g5 g19. I left the light on at the range and it stayed 100% on during the ~300 rounds i tested. I also before i put it on my gun turned it on and banged it afainst my safe multiple times and dropped multiple times (yes im serious) and it stayed on 100% The light is bright its just not as bright as say my streamlight stinger and thats to be expected since its 1/10 the size. Thats why some pictures LOOK yellow. Its not. Its white light. It was easy to program the strobe mode on and the button works on both sides for on-temp on- and strobe. To be honest the only thing thats not great but not that bad either. The lens and the outside gets pretty dirty. When i cleaned my gun i wiped a cloth over the lens and the housing and it came out just as black as cleaning the inside of the gun. (In fairness it was a couple hundred of federal aluminum casing) but the light was still bright even dirty

Bright, light-weight, and easy to engage- the TLR-7 is an excellent addition to any home defense pistol. I attached mine to my Springfield XDm 9mm. I've attached a pic of the beam in a 25 foot pitch black hallway. It looks like broad daylight with this light shining. I've heard complaints that you have to adjust your grip in order to actuate the light. This is true. I have medium hands, and need to stretch to turn it on. However, it's a small stretch, and I'm able to regain full comfortable purchase of the gun in less than a second. Just turn it on before you go searching around in the dark, and you'll be fine. Judging by the intense field of light projected, I'm sure you'll have the advantage on a thoroughly blinded intruder. I like all the specs on this light, its performance, and the streamlined look on my gun. I highly recommend it.
