I love, love, LOVEEE b.tan. I discovered them during lockdown in 2020 when we were all chasing serotonin and a decent glow, and I’ve been loyal ever since. The scent, the color, the fact that I never end up orange or streaky… they’ve earned my trust. So when I saw they had a clear gel formula, curiosity won. Immediately. And yes, it delivered. Packaging (small detail, big win): Before we even get to the tan itself, I need to mention the pump clip. The bottle arrived with a little clip around the pump stem so it couldn’t be pressed during shipping. No leaks. No mystery tan explosions. I’ve kept the clip for travel because it’s genius. More brands need to do this. Gel consistency: This gel is the perfect middle ground. Not thick and sticky, not watery and messy. It spreads easily and evenly, especially with a tanning mitt, which I always recommend no matter the formula. It glides on smoothly and blends without effort. No panic blending, no racing the clock. No-rinse, no transfer: It goes on completely clear, which means no guide color, no stained sheets, and no awkward “don’t touch me” phase. It dries fairly quickly too. I was dry enough in about 10 minutes to throw on loose sweats and go about my evening. Dark, loose clothing is still your friend, but this formula is forgiving. Color & glow: This develops fast. Within 20–30 minutes, I could already see color starting to come through. By about 5–6 hours later, I had a deep, sun-kissed bronze that looked natural and even. No streaks. No orange tones. Just a rich glow that looks like you spent time outside instead of with a mitt in your bathroom. On top of all of this it leaves my skin feeling hydrated like I used a body lotion. Scent: This is one of the reasons I keep coming back to b.tan. There’s no classic self-tanner smell. It actually smells good, fresh and clean, and that stays true even as the tan develops. No “what is that smell?” moments. Product usage & value: What surprised me most is how little product I used compared to foam formulas. A little goes a long way. At $15 for a large bottle, the value is excellent, especially considering how dark and even the results are. Overall, this gel is everything I want in a self-tanner: easy, clear, fast-developing, great-smelling, and deeply bronzing without drama. I’ve tried a lot of self-tanners, and this one is honestly one of my favorites. The biggest standout for me is how quickly it dries—within about 5–10 minutes I can comfortably put clothes on without that sticky, uncomfortable feeling. The color this provides is insanely good. Make sure you shower after 5-8 hours because the smell gets worse as the color develops. The color lasts longer than any mousse, applies easier, and you don’t need a lot. Use a mitt. I don’t recommend for beginners because it’s clear so it will be easy to miss spots if you’re not used to tanning. But it’s a 10 for me.

Every woman in my family uses this product regularly and love the results! No More spray tan professional or tanning beds. Apply it in the evening, follow directions and apply with mitten. Caution on elbows and knees not to over apply. Let it dry, go to bed. Shower in the am and use Loofah in shower to correct any uneven spots! Works great! Smells good to. Doesn’t feel gross and heavy on your skin with application. Both my daughters and my mom used this product for a spring wedding! Looks great!

I never write reviews but since I am an expert level self tanner ( self taught of course), I felt I should weigh in. I have been using self tanner since it was first invented. I’m very pale and very old. That being said I have quite literally tried every tanner ever made in search of a perfect tan and when it comes to tanning, money is no object. The most important components are color, even tone and dry time. Most creams take a while to dry but even after make me feel a bit suffocated. Foams are better and the dampened wipes are better still but nothing beats a gel formula. Unfortunately gels are less common and not always great. b.tan checks all the boxes and the price point is ridiculous. You also get a ton. I had suchhhh high hopes for this product. It goes in with the most fragrant smell and it’s quite pleasant but once it dries, it quickly turns into that musty, spray tan small. Once you shower it seems to diminish but whoa was that a surprise. The color is nice and seems to last. It also literally didn’t transfer onto anything which I loved. It is very sticky after application until it fully absorbs and dries which is quite interesting. Overall, with 2 applications so far I’m still left with streaky marks and an uneven tan.

I love it. It genuinely gives a nice tan. I have used it twice, and the tan lasts for 5-6 days. It has a pleasant smell, and you don't get that after-smell that other self-tanning products often have. Remember to apply some moisturizer on your elbows, feet, and knees first. I forgot to do this the first time, and the only flaw was that my ankles and knees were darker. It did not stain my hands either. With the moisturizer, it comes out perfect! I have fair to medium skin and ordered the extra dark shade. I purchased the brush and used it to spread a little on my neck and face. I will continue to order, and it's a great price compared to other brands.

New to self tanners. I wanted a safer, kinder to skin option, that didn't stain. This ticked all the boxes. Being naturally pale, I just wanted an improvement to my confidence. And an easy glow. Something that is more natural looking. The "Darkest" is perfect to achieve this. Despite having no guide color, I've found this product incredibly easy to use. I'd definitely recommend a tanning glove, back tanner applicator, and a tanning brush for face, hands and feet, for the most natural finish. Give the product at least six hours to develop before showing, etc. The skin is left feeling hydrated, and refreshed. Around the three hour mark, the color starts to develop. Limited "Tanning smell" during processing, nose close to detect the faintest smell. Otherwise, it's a pleasant fragrance. The color fades pretty evenly. If you shower every day, it's a twice weekly application. And it's easy to get used to applying. I definitely recommend. I am always very pleased with the results.
