My first love . . .
I've only been using a week but I already love this camera. I have been using the WYZE cameras and have refused to pay monthly for detection settings and notifications. This camera does all of this out of the box. In fact, it can distinguish between a person, pet, vehicle and general motion. Responsiveness is very timely . . . I had been using it to watch for some amazon deliveries so they don't get stolen and as a result, I was able to intercept those package by meeting the person at the door (plus I had foot surgery so I needed their help sliding the boxes inside the doorway). It also alerted me that my neighbor was shoveling my sidewalk and driveway for me. It is on point, IMO. So many more settings - it puts the wyze to shame. Quality of the image is excellent and night time vision is also great. I was also able to get an alert when and where my cat was jumping up on the counter - again, I've intercepted this "issue" and was able to resolve (lint roller tape, upside down loaded mouse traps; only took once). Mobile app is great - just had no issues setting it up. Can't be more happy. Wasting money on monthly subscriptions is ridiculous but I'm frugal.

The price, quality, no monthly bills, you canโt go wrong! Tiny investment & BIG bang for your buck.
I am NOT new (12 YEARS and TWO other brands) to the home camera arena for sure. I came to notice how many models of the Tapoโs there were. I then dove in and figured what was best for me. One of my criteria was that it didnโt force cloud storage and subscription service on you, an SD card would be all you need. It also had to have Motion and Sound detection, and higher resolution than what I was used to was an extra treat. I decided upon the indoor/outdoor Tapo C120โs knowing they would be for indoor use as all my others in the past were. This gives me an option to move any outdoors if I ever had a need. I use a couple of them, instead of being outdoors, on windowsills or on door glass pointing outside. So that you know, if you plan to use in this way, you can not have night vision on. You would get a glass reflection of the night vision sensors. This way has worked fine for me for every model in my past 12 year line-up, as long as there is a porch light, street light, entry door light, some kind of light you are fine. There were several incredible, unexpected surprises after I installed 4 of these. The image quality is amazing, super sharp and clear. The App is super fast and responsive compared to my old... You can easily and instantly swipe between cameras, or just as swiftly look at recorded events (alarms). You can even put the cameraโs in grouped batches of 4-up on a screen together. The flexibility in mounting options make it super easy to put wherever you would like. I am amazed at the difference and how far the technology has come in such a short time. Oh and did I say the price is a fraction of all the other I purchased in the past ? I can buy four Tapo C120โs for the price of ONE of either of my old brands. Right now I am running all 4 Tapoโs remotely in another home and plan to purchase more for primary home and do away with my older inferior brand. My situation was kind of unique and I had some questions, so I reached out to Technical Support. I have to give a shout out to Cliff as my main Technical Support contact. The team went over and above any expectations I ever could imagine from a support standpoint. I have passed my knowledge onto friends and family about these, as you canโt beat these cameras all in all. The price point, the quality, no nagging monthly bills, you canโt go wrong ! Tiny investment with a huge bang for your buck. I am not writing this review for promotional purposes or any of the suchโฆ. I am writing it because when I come across a stand-out product and customer service together, I want to tell my story for others.

Not sponsored/paid. Love this thing.
Okay, so, I realize there's an issue with people being given free product/posting reviews/whatever. I am NOT one of those people. I actually had a TP-Link branded minion(yes, that minion. It's adorable lol) that I used to watch pets and house while I was away prior so I knew of the brand. Anyway, I got this little guy for like $15 after seeing it on Slickdeals (if you don't have the app, you SHOULD. it will save you tons of money.) Okay, explanation aside, I love this thing. I actually have blink cameras in other areas and am highly considering replacing them with Tp-Link cameras because of ease of use. The app is so cool honestly, I was shocked. Literally everything is in the app. By everything I mean all the "smart home" options. You can control ALL of your (TP-Link)devices from this app, not just the cameras. With that said, people keep calling this "subscription free", and in my opinion it is NOT. You do get a free trial of cloud storage, but you have to pay after that expires. Additionally, instead of paying per time period or storage amount or anything else, you pay per device. You can pay per month, or yearly. I chose yearly, one device, for around $29, which in my opinion is fair. If I picked monthly at 4.99, it would have been around $60 after a year- so double the price. As I said before, the amount goes up depending on how many devices you have. They also seem to offer occasional promotional-type sales, so I think I saved a few dollars because of that (prices were marked through.) With that said, you might be able to get those subscriptions for a much better price if you watch those sales. We have a buttnugget of a neighbor who likes to regularly hit/putt golf balls at the house and does other stupid stuff so I didn't want to risk not having saved cloud storage, so instead of waiting on a better sale I just went ahead and bought the subscription. I don't know how other people are getting away with saying there's no subscription fee. I mean, after the subscription expires, the most I found it could do was provide a live feed. On the bright side, if there is a gap in coverage (like there was for me) all of your videos that you missed are obviously still kept somewhere, because re-subscribing results in all of that 'activity' to update and become immediately available. Take that how you will. I thought it was pretty neat. Okay, now for the technicalities. I was dumb and installed it upside down somehow. Filled with anguish due to the thought of having to climb the ladder that barely reaches the flood light again- i found a setting in the app. INVERT. This thing is dummy-proof, I swear. Whoever made this needs a raise. The 2k quality is, in fact, 2k. Another reason I purchased this was because my blink cameras have a max quality of like 1080p, and as far as I could tell, none of the blink cameras (even new ones) had anything more than that- but considering how blurry it was the last time the neighbor managed to break the house light while "golfing" at the house, I wanted something with a bit more clarity. The night vision is also really damn good. All of my blink cameras just kind of show a big white spot at night, but the Tapo has no issues. It also sorts videos for you- you can tell it to not store things like- pets, vehicles, etc. Obviously, Tp- Link probably pays people for some of the reviews. That's why I'm leaving mine, so y'all will know what's real and what's not. I realize this is incredibly long, I'll probably come back and shorten it later. I just wanted to throw my observations out there in case someone was eyeing this dude and needed some real answers. Oh! One more thing. During this most recent hurricane in Georgia, a tree fell on the house right where my little Tapo was. I couldn't even check him until the tree was removed. His last recorded video was quite literally of the tree hitting the house. (Not to worry, we are okay.) Anyway, if you ever have a burgular or something knocks out your little Tapo, apparently it will somehow manage to upload that clip to the cloud before being unplugged/dying. I'm not sure if it has a small battery backup or what, but I was super impressed with that. Further, turns out, the tree only managed to 'unplug' the Tapo. I'm gonna start calling him lucky. Oh, and, unlike the blink, it doesn't need a stupid sync module!

Great little camera
I'm giving this camera 5 stars based on using it as an indoor camera where the 120degree field of view is sufficient for the rooms in my home. The picture is very clear. I love the fact that I don't need to use a hub with this camera, it uses a sd card to use local storage rather than the cloud. This little camera also does a great job detecting my dogs if I put the camera on my desk where as my other brand camera won't pick up the dogs unless the camera is high up. Even without a subscription the recordings will show if it's a person or animal. I also like the fact it doesn't need a battery.

Great, but App will not continuously record w/o SD card
Having used other Wi-Fi cameras including Google Nest cams (and much more expensive pro & semi-pro security hardware), as well as having a career in electronic & broadcast engineering, I think Iโm uniquely qualified to give this a fair unbiased review! First off itโs phenomenal for the money. Better resolution and more features than previous generation Nest cameras for a fraction of the price. While the hardware is seemingly not as durable as some competitors, at this price theyโre more or less disposable! There was one surprise for me that everyone should be aware of (that if I had done a little research, I probably would have figured out before purchasing on a whim during Amazon prime days)! Unlike other services I have used, when you use the TAPO app (which I paid for a years worth upfront for 4 cams) just be aware it only streams live, and then records segments to the cloud when there is motion detected. If you want to record continuously, every cam has to have an SD card installed. The app then uses the memory locally on the SD card to playback segments (but of course is limited by the memory of the card). Then like other systems (and dash cams), it just starts rewriting over older video/audio. The app is very intuitive and functional although I would like to be able to monitor all cameras at once (which may be possible as Iโve only played with it a couple of days). Installation was a breeze and simple. Very intuitive for non-tech people. Overall, Iโm extremely pleased with the performance &bfeatures. Time will tell about durability and Iโm sure their app will probably get some upgrades over time. A very competitive product. I wouldโve given it five stars if for the $119 for a year of 4 camera service, it would record continuously into the cloud. That way, if you have a break-in the cameras are destroyed, the full recording is remotely saved.

This is the security camera you want
I had 4 Yi cameras (2 indoor and 2 outdoor) which I replaced with TAPO cameras. The Yi cameras were hit or miss, and the Yi app was horrible, constantly hitting you up to subscribe to their cloud service and delaying connection to the cameras. The TAPO cameras work great, and the app is straightforward with no annoying adds. The cameras work great in recording to a mini SD card, and cloud service is not required to store videos or for smart detection. Cost wise, the prices are great compared to others. I have both the indoor and outdoor models.

An apartment is 1500$ in this town who can afford that??
This is a wonderful addition to any family looking to keep an eye on particularly needy pets, or perhaps a 3d printer. This is what I would call the "Relationship strainer," as it made my girlfriend particularly angry that I would get a camera without consulting her. It has 2K resolution and an optional night-vision boost. She didn't like the idea of a camera that was constantly monitoring her while i was away. It has a 2-way microphone/speaker interface so you can remind your children you have an eye on them while you're shopping. She doesn't trust that it's for the printer, and the dogs for when she is gone on her vacations. The dogs get night terrors and I work nights, so i need a way to talk to them. The cameras are a more affordable version of the 200 line, which is a steal considering my dogs have nobody else when we're gone, and I love them very much

Update: Excellent in nearly every aspect. Power cable disconnects with slight movement.
Update: Cameras have a ton of features, and fantastic night or day viewing. It's tedious to set up all the accounts online to see the camera feeds on a PC, but it does work, using iSpy Connect. So I absolutely LOVE that. The wi-fi is powerful and I've had no problems connecting to the indoor or outdoor cameras so far. The power cords must be pressed in as far as they will go, they only make contact in the last 1/8 inch. You need to anchor the cable near the camera after installing, and if you move the camera at all, be sure to push the power cord back in firmly, because it will disconnect. One of my camera's night vision stopped working, I'm returning that one. The mounting hardware and process is very quick and easy. I'd like to see 90 degree camera view rotation as well as the 180. So that a camera can be mounted on a side wall. And right-angle USB power cords would be helpful for space constraints. One caveat. The outdoor Tapo 425 camera will not show in a PC feed, it doesn't work with the RTSP or ONVIF protocol. That's disappointing, but it has all the other great features. Be sure to buy some micro SD cards while you're buying the cameras, for local recording and phone playback. Previous review: Just got the camera. Compact, clever, looks well made. However, the power cable must be pressed in completely to power the device. The tiniest gap from full inserted will stop providing power to the camera, and the smallest movement will disconnect the power. Major flaw. The camera video displays on my phone with no problem after installing the Tapo app and creating an account. Then they harass you to set up an online paid account. To see the camera video on a PC, you have to jump through hoops. First you must set up an RTSP account and password for EACH camera. This is done in the Tapo app. It's a different ID than your Tapo ID. Then you install an app called iSpy, on your computer. Then you jump through more hoops, configuring that, and then it fails and gives errors, and you're nowhere. So I don't know if I'll be able to monitor the cameras on a PC. They're not much use to me if I can't look at a monitor to see what's going on. Like every other security cam I've tried, these don't work very well. I sill use my Logitech PC-linked cameras from 2007, which don't require online accounts, and record video to the PC. And I can glance at the monitor 24/7 to see what the 4 cameras are seeing, live. Two stars for the Tapo cam.

Tapo C120 is what I have been looking for, very happy with the camera and tech support.
I have been looking for a security camera for pointing outside my house mainly for monitoring if anyone coming to the house (for delivery etc), any vehicle going to my drive way or park outside my house, and any pets (or racoon) wondering outside my house especially at night. The C120 is exactly what I am looking for. I've been using the tapo C120 for just one month and very happy with this product and the tech support. It got all the features I've looking for among different brands and models, picture quality is quite good day and night, live and recorded video very smooth, small foot print to be mounted on the window frame, flexible camera arm for pointing at the exact angle easily, very considerate magetic base plate and double side tape for simple installation without the need for drilling nor screwing. It has about 5 sec pre-recording when the motion is detected so you won't miss anything right at the beginning of the moment the motion detected, multiple detect zone which so flexible that not confined to just rectangular shape like to older model, detection of person, vehicle and pets work just great, night vision is very clear without the need of infra red or spot light (especially useful when I put the camera behind the window pointing outside the house), quite happy with the motion detection response which is very fast (both day and night time). More important, technical support is very good, I found the recorded video is jerky a couple of times at the beginning of the video, contacted tech support with sample video sent to them, unexpectedly, they responsed the next day and even got a firmware update for me within a week and the problem seems resolved now, of course I will monitor the issue for the next couple of weeks to make sure it is really fixed (which I think it is), also tech support (Ian Xu) responses very fast with good follow up which is another star added.
