The Deluxe Metal Loft Surround Rail-Balustrade

It took me some time to get around to fitting, I wish I’d done it sooner. This is a sturdy guard that makes lift access safe and easy. It came with all screws , nuts, bolts and washers. It can be adjusted to fit various sized openings and was very easy to fit the whole process taking less than ten minutes using normal d.i.y tools. Sturdy and wobble free this is a good value product that really does the job it is designed for.

People had mixed views on the safety rail but we have found it works and is very sturdy and if you happened to step back to far it will stop you .We lifted the boards so we could make sure we screwed into beams and it feels absolutely fine . Glad we got it as now all safety checked in loft.Screws we're good for us.

Does a good job. Getting in as nd or of the loft feels much safer now. Could do wth an extra bar halfway up but a good addition to loft access

The metalwork is very strong but, as there are only 4 screws, it does move slightly. You need to have something solid to screw it into. I put down a couple of 4 inch by 1 inch wooden planks either side of the loft entrance for added strength and added some wood supports to the front, such as Jaydee207, did for extra strength. It is easy to assemble but, as there were no instructions, one handy tip is to make sure you have the sides facing the correct way! I put one side up then realised that the bolt holes that connect to the back connecting part are only drilled at one end of the side part so I had to take it off again and turn it round. Either bolt holes at each end or instructions would have helped. I also had a slight problem with one of the bolt holes, as the bolt would not turn due to a fragment of metal in the hole. I got round this by making the hole bigger with a drill. All in all though it was worth buying. It feels a lot safer getting in and out of the loft now and the loft will be getting more use for storage etc. Since I installed it last week I have added two shelving racks and a couple of small ottomans to the loft to aid storage. Now just need to go through all my old stuff that has been put up there for the last 50 years!

I found the product easy to assemble and install. When looking for a suitable safety surround I did note that some people did comment on lack of instructions, but these are not needed as assembly is self evident. The barrier would benefit from an additional lower rail, but I have to admit that I couldn't find anything within my price range that did. Another comment was that it wobbles, but this is only a slight movement at the top of the open end due to the construction of this type of barrier, and I haven't found this to be a problem. It certainly makes the room feel safer, and I have found it a help to enter our attic room

Planning a loft conversion/boarding for storage. Avoid the drop by purchasing a one of these Balustrades. Competetive price, easy to fit & gives that sense of Safety first! Small cost to save your life in the event of being 'forgetful' that the loft cover is off....

Chose this rather than the wooden version. However it was much bigger than I expected and it took some careful manuvering to get it into the loft. It's also slightly wobbly fully assembled and would benefit from additional fixing points.

Good item seems to be well made and heavy. Easy to fit and supplied with all fixings. Put hazard tape on mine to make more visible in loft. Would be better if originally painted a lighter colour than black. Would recommend SWB
