Pain relief
I am still trying to get used to wearing it I do think it helps the pain in my wrist. It’s great that if I am cooking and need to wash my hands I don’t have to remove it

Beneficial support while still allowing ability for pinching.
I have CMC osteoarthritis pain and now have a collection of CMC thumb braces. Akso is one of the brands I prefer. The Velpeau has enough rigidity to provide support -- and the style allows the user to still pinch their thumb and first finger. Maintaining the ability to pinch is important because it means you can wear the brace all the time. I tried other style braces like thumb splints and end up taking them off a lot because of the low mobility. I also have tried more neoprene-style braces/wraps but like braces like Akso style because the plastic is much easier and faster to clean, and can be quickly dried if I get it wet while doing something like washing my hands. The straps are easy to clean as well and can be switched out easily. So far the best brands I've found are Velpeau, Fortemotus, and Akso. I considered the Push Metagrip brand which is supposedly the gold standard for CMC braces. My research showed it has the most inflexible plastic and has more structure than I need. Plus it's 3x more expensive than the brands I listed. I also tried the KD brand and it has the opposite issue in that the plastic is too pliable and fails to provide good support. One additional suggestion. Pairing the CMC brace with a liner will make the brace be more comfortable to wear, especially in the summer. I really like the "3-Point Products CMCcare Brace Accessories Kit, Straps, Tabs & Cozy Liners" on Amazon. They're expensive if you just need the liner but are worth it. They're also more useful than most of the thumb compression sleeves so many brands offer. If you have osteoarthritis, you don't need compression sleeves or gloves (those are intended for rheumatoid issues). If you're getting a brace, also consider getting replacement straps, especially if you just have 1 brace. Then you can switch out straps to wash them. Velpeau has straps that will work with Fortemotus and Akso.

Just as good as the gray one!
I have significant arthritis in my left hand and my O/T prescribed a PUSH hand brace that works wonders on supporting and protecting my hand. I love it---except for the dark gray material used to make it. I forget about having it on, but recently I was at a retirement party and photographs show this thing on my hand. It's not a biggie, but it is distracting. I wondered why they don't make it in a variety of skin tones? I found this brace, and while it isn't a color that "matches" all people, at least it's closer than gray to my skin tone. It is just as sturdy as my PUSH brace. They also include a sleeve which is great--you don't realize how much your hand sweats in the brace and it can get funky. Plus, the cost is WAY less than a PUSH, which is great if your insurance won't cover a brace or you want a backup one. I highly recommend it. I just wish they'd offer at least, say, 6 skin tones so people of all races good chose a better match.

Not as comfortable as the Push, but the replaceable velcro is an improvement.
Another reviewer called these "gruff" which to me implies a tone of voice! They aren't even rough. But they are a bit less comfortable than the Push in the area between the thumb and the hand. The advantage over the Push (aside from the price) is that the velcro band is detachable, therefore replaceable if & when it wears out. It seems to be a better Velcro as well. The Push band is part of the splint and cannot be replaced.
