Q: Will these work for larger springs? A 2005 Expedition? The springs are thicker than most cars...

I used them on the front coil springs on my 2008 Avalanche. Worked great. The safety pins did not fit over the coil, but I was able to compress the spring and get the shock apart. Be sure to use lube oil on the threads, I used tri-flow.

Q: has anyone used these on a 2013 f150 and managed to not take their head off with the front strut spring?

Mine was a 2000 Volvo XC. Trucks shouldn't make any diff though unless, your springs are longer than the length of the compressor. If so you may have to buy another length. The compressor is set up to not be at a 90 degree from the spring. Tap the clamps just after they get tight to be sure that they lay flat on the spring where the threaded nut meets the ball. If not, a couple cranks later when tightening the nuts will want to slide to that location.

They were strong enough on my 2017 Ram 1500, but I think the coil diameter was too thick to engage the safety pins.

Q: Work on removing coil springs where the shock and spring install separately?

They should. I bought these specifically for spring compression on struts. But the will work on springs also. Just be sure to tighten them evenly as you compress the spring and as you release the tension again.
