Roosebeck Aluminum Carbon Fiber Bagpipe Drone Reeds

Great price. Good sound. They're not tinny sounding like you would think. I undoubtedly prefer these to my traditional cane reeds. Well worth the money.

They are worth the price paid, but I do prefer Ezeedrone reeds. The Ezeedrone cost more than four times as much as these aluminum reeds. The aluminum are more durable than cane reeds, but (should be no surprise) they don't compare to the sound of Ezeedrone reeds.

I couldn't get these reeds to tune properly in the GHB--they're way too flat. The tenor drone tops tune far below the hemp at a low A of 477. And that's with the reeds seated DEEP in the reed seat and the bridle set to make the tongue as short as it can be and still play. If you want to play your pipes set up like the advertised pictures of Pakistani-made pipes, with the tenor ferrules snug against the projecting mounts, these are the drone reeds for you. Otherwise, just buy a set of reeds from one of the leading makers--there's no deal to be had here.

I have yet to adjust the drones which can be a lengthy project, however the quality is very good

Thought I could turn a sow's ear into a silk purse, but no cigars. Don't bother with these.
