Small Flames: Zuri the Golden Dragon

Fun books that teach a moral lesson. Love them.

I always give a book for kids' bdays.. this has been my go to this year. My 10yo even wanted it and read it in a span of 3 days.

The Little Flames series is the first set of books my 8-year-old (2nd grade) has actually wanted to read in their free time. The stories are exciting, easy to follow, and full of dragons—perfect for new readers. I love that the books sneak in great lessons about teamwork, patience, and humility without feeling preachy. A fantastic choice for 2nd–3rd graders, especially reluctant readers!

I picked up the Small Flames books for my 6-year-old to help spark more interest in chapter books. He was hesitant at first, but before long we had read the entire series together! The stories were easy enough for him to follow and read with a little help, which really helped build his confidence. What I loved most was that each book wove in a small life lesson without feeling preachy or overly complicated. The stories kept his attention while also opening up good conversations between us. I would definitely recommend this series for kids around 5–9 years old, especially for parents wanting something enjoyable to read together with their children. Such a sweet and encouraging introduction to chapter books!

Are seven-year-old son loved this book, and it sparked a love of reading overall. Currently ordering the rest of the series!
