I found this book to be very interesting! I learned a lot of information that I didn't know before hand... Really the only flaw I had with this book in the constant time change! Meaning first you read about 1991 and than about 1978 and then right back to 1991! Like I said first the information was wonderfully written, which helps move the book along so quickly. I found the information about Konerak Sinthasomphone to be very repetitive! It of course makes you feel terrible about how the police didn't even want to bother with him. In my copy of this book it has photos in the middle of Konerak and I cannot understand how police officer that work with people everyday can look at that CHILD and think he was an of age adult!!! That is a pure outrage... The information about the suspension of the officer involved was very good; I just wish that they didn't get their jobs back... because they most defiantly did not deserve them! I enjoyed reading ch. 21 "Fault Lines" very much! I found the Q & A's with Ashok Bedi to be very intriguing and was a good depiction of the subject Jeffrey Dahmer. For being the first real study into Jeffrey Dahmer, I found this book to be very good in letting the reader know all information needed to understand Dahmer in Childhood, Adulthood, general Life and Death. One of the best parts of this book is Dahmer; statement on his final day of the three week trail... " I knew I was sick or evil or both."

There are some really interesting facts in this one. I particularly like the Q & A toward the end, describing exactly what kind of person Dahmer was. Some of the background info was long and boring, like the histories of the towns. Who cares? Let's get to the cannibal! lol

On a positive aspect, the book covers the whole story of Dahmer, from his childhood in a placid rural community to his crazy killings among the gay community in Milwaukee. The reader will definitely get a good understanding of the whole story. However, two major problems plague the book: 1) It reads like a condensed journalistic account. The kind of article you get when you read Time or Newsweek, describing only the most evident facts. In a biography, the reader expects to find an extra perspective, an intimate portrait, maybe original interviews. This is specially important if one wants to understand the mind and the motivation behind Dahmer's bizarre crimes. Unfortunately, we don't get anything of the kind. It is just a narrative. I would like to understand, for example, why the heck a person would accept to go a stranger's house in order to get 50 dollars for having his picture taken. Is this a common thing in the gay community ? Explaining this would require some description of the mindset and lifestyle of said community. However, the author just assumes that the crazy promiscuity and lack of care for personal safety is a given, like it is something completely reasonable and common. I think this happens because of fact number two below. 2) The book is politically correct to the point of being nauseating. It is so careful not to offend gays that it just becomes boring and forgets to explain much of the environment in which the crimes took place. The most obvious fact for anyone is that Dahmer was a gay pedophile, an expression never used in the book. If any kind of group outrage should happen, it should have come from the parents of children, against the promiscuity of the gay community, that allows such things as a quick date for pictures and sex to happen. However, Dahmer is portrayed as a "white male" who kills gays. For goodness' sake, he himself was gay. How could he also be a racist when he loved black men, and had sex with them ? I understand that the book describes much of the crazy politically correct discourse being repeated by the lobbies in typical marxist fashion, but there is a point when any good author should stop and tell his readers that it is huge nonsense. The author never does that, he only parrots what the most radical lobbyists said. We don't even have a glimpse of how this underworld, this quick date lifestyle works. The author's fear of being politically incorrect, therefore, prevented him from exploring more about the causes and the dynamics of Dahmer's sick mind. It is a shame, almost a case of self-censorship.

WHEN THIS EVENT OCCURED I WAS GLUED TO THE T.V. TAPING EVERY SECOND OF THE TRIAL. I HAD SINCE LOST MY COLLECTION OF WHAT I HAD. AND THIS BOOK WAS THE MOST FACTUAL AND TRUE TO THE ACCOUNTS OF WHAT HAD TOOK PLACE AT THAT TIME. THIS WRITER DESCRIBES EVERY ACCOUNT AS I REMEMBER HAPPENING AND AS I AM A TRUE CRIME BUFF, I APPRECIATE BEING ABLE TO FIND A WRITER SUCH AS THIS ! I COULD NOT PUT DOWN THIS BOOK AND READ IT IN ITS ENTIRITY IN ONE EVENING. WONDERFUL AND ENLIGHTENING READ INTO THE MIND OF JEFFREY DAHMER !!

The solid part of that was his undenial habit and his explicit language highly will suggest . 10 of 10 will gurenteed

I really did think this book did a good job of explaining the story behind Dahmer’s murders. It definitely does not glorify the violence, or dwell on the macabre details unnecessarily. However, there are wide swaths during which there are some very long tangents describing the areas, and the economic forces at play. At first, these were enlightening scene setters, almost world crafting narratives. But after a while the formula began to feel rote, and I started skimming. (I HATE skimming.) It just felt like the book became formulaic: Dahmer commits a heinous crime—Bath township was set in the, blah blah blah, good old days—Dahmer commits a heinous crime—Milwaukee was a prospering city before it became a part of the rust belt, blah blah blah—Dahmer—Bath township—Dahmer—Milwaukee—Dahmer... you get the idea. The book is definitely worth a read if you are in too true crime. I learned a ton that I never knew, and enjoyed the book—for the most part.

If you are in to true crime stories, this one is a must to read. It is a true account of one of the most publicized serial killer crimes in American history. The author of this book, Donald A. Davis, did an excellent job of bringing the true crime story of Jeffrey Dahmer to life. His style of writing reminds me of the famous true crime author, Ann Rule, as he delves not only into the actual specifics of the crime, but also into the psychological history of the serial killer himself. This book contains actual photographs of Jeffrey Dahmer and some of his victims. The photos are not graphic, so those of you who are squeamish need not be concerned. The author did an excellent job of describing the horrific details of the crimes committed.

I really loved & enjoyed this book esp the interview and opinion of a psychiatrist over Jeffrey's action and his overall personality as why & how he became like that. It's an easy & enjoyable read.

I have read this book before but because it was so many years ago I wanted to read it all over again. Call me morbid but I do enjoy reading books that delve into the profile of a serial killer and this book did exactly that. I must say though I found the end of it slightly irritating as it went on to talk about comparisons of other serial killers and slightly toom away from Jeffrey Dahmer and what was going on throughout his trial. Overall a good read for anyone who is interested in the personal history of a serial killer.
