I want more!!
This book is a must read for anyone interested in history. Especially where slavery was concerned. I was trasported back to ol' London, England in the 1700's, then on to a merchant ship headed to Barbados. I spent a year in Barbados with Lazaras and all the characters he met there. Finally ending up on the beach in Charleston,SC. Perlman, 17 years old, started out as a spy heading to Barbados to get information on how the slaves were being treated in an attempt to stop the practice of slavery in Britian and its other regions and realms. He doesn't accomplish this feat, which to his is great disapointment and makes him feel as though he as failed. What he does do, is touch the lives of many people, especally the slaves he meets along the way. He shows them kindness and love and most importantly hope in the human spirit. And in return, he learns kindness, love, and hope in the human spirit from the slaves. I want more!! I want to continue to read about Lazarus Perlman. The story ends when he is just a teenager. I want to know what happened to him and the rest of the people I met in "Slave Spy".

Must read
I don't read much But when I started this book, I couldn't put it down. The writing was great. I really liked the feelings and thoughts it stired in me. After the first few pages, I read it as much for it's historical significance as entertainment. I felt like I knew the primary character before he began his long journey to become the man he wanted to be. All in all, excellant writing, great research, very emotional. The details created vivid pictures in my mind that transported me to an earlier and more harsh yet interesting time.
